Cycling Across Mediterranean Europe - Part 1 - Portugal
The first part of a 5 month trip across southern Europe from Portugal to Turkey. This is where it all began, in Porto, northern Portugal and the road took us down ...
Get both maps and a GPS (or phone/tablet equivalent). Maps are great for
seeing the big picture and not needing power or fading in sunlight. GPS is
better for the fine detail and changing route on the fly. If you enter the
coordinates of your day's destination and have the GPS calculate a route
then you can wander onto back streets/roads all you want and the GPS will
recalculate your shortest route without getting lost or backtracking.
WOW!!! I am also planning to do the bike tour next summer!!! How did you
choose ur route?? I may buy a navigation....but my friends are saying that
it would be better to buy a map of each country!! what do you think?
@koreahiho maps are better, there is no battery you have to care about
(especially if you are campiing). Just make sure map is 1:500 000 or even
better 1:200 000.
