+NampaHiker I know the feeling.I love backpacking but enjoy a car camp as well.Walmart had the Ozark trail 3 room cabin with a front porch and everything i think it was orange and black or orange and brown and of coarse they discontinued it to.

i have used a cheap 2 person walmart tent for years ... can't remember if it was an ozark trails or a coleman, but either way, first thing I did was sealed it with scotchguard tent sealer. I usually retreat it every year. Thing weighs like 4 lbs, I remember it cost less than $40 but can't remember the exact price, and makes an awesome ultralight tent (matter of fact, I am doing winter camping this weekend with it).

No, I just treated the seams. If I was to do the whole tent I wood mix my mineral spirit/silicone solution to be much more liquid and less of a slurry and brush it on. Thanks for watching.

Hey how heavy was the rain that your rain test was in? I am supposed to go camping this weekend and we're expecting a pretty hard rainstorm, with pouring rain. Did your cheap tent and this waterproofing method work in pouring rain? Or wa it just a constant sprinkle or ????

If you are worried you can rig a tarp over the tent, a simple "A frame".

It was a decent rain, not a driving rain though. Also did you see the first video where I show you how to seam seal the tent? I wouldn't try it without weather treating first.
