Spot on mate, i have been telling people this for DECADES. I totally agree
and confirm your astute observations, these cars are poorly constructed,
and they still are. EVERY car built before 2000 should be scrapped for
many reasons.
+Polara'68 umm, yeah, you do come across as pretty stupid actually, and that is the reason for laws, idiots like you are so immensely stupid you do need to be told what is right and wrong, at least you got that right.
+Polara'68Righo, well so what? I sure do not want to protect YOU, only innocent road users. But there is more to it than that.Anyone who owns one of these junkers is in for a rude shock soon, all that money 'invested' in something for the scrappers lol... so do dream on, or find a time machine.Hmm, i see your point though, and i agree, we should demand a revision of the licensing age for all those other vehicles.Hm, but the REAL problem is really arrogant, ignorant peasants like you, so maybe there's an easier way to do this.Make vehicle usage ONLY for people of an IQ 135 or above, plus 25 yo or above, and NEVER for any asspimple who thinks he owns the planet. As regards the rest of your comment, sure, if you pay me i will supply the data. Or, you could find it for yourself. My fee is $900.00 per hour BTW. (i do the youtube commenting for fun, in my spare time). But your comparison is wrong, irrelevant anyway. 1950's - 70's vehicles are mostly in junkyards now, (where they belong), so any data would have to be adjusted accordingly.PLEASE go buy an old car, PLEASE, -just in case your sperm is still viable, the world will have at least one more chance to be rid of your idiot genes.
+Mark Arbot OH and because I SOOOO stupid tell me the things that are WRONG with them, it is YOU'RE job to do and dig up the facts with sources included too!
These coffins you call them are a part of our Automotive history,They're likely driven in limited usage, Its really noble of you to take on the responsibility as protector of everyone!Sooo in that vein of thinking lets Ban motorcycles, ski's, snowmobiles, jet skis, hang gliding and small airplanes, after all following that infinite wisdom we'll would all be better off.The general public does not follow your conservatism, and while your premise of safety is the argument. What is this assertion based on?Please back it up with real data, YOU KNOW FACT!!!. HOW MANY DEATHS OCCURRED IN 2012/2013 THAT A PRE-MODEL YEAR 2000 CAR WAS INVOLVED?????Please post where it is that you have poof to back your augment.People have options thankfully your not making the choices for everyone else!!!
+Polara'68really, how can you ask "why scrap" these steel coffins, when the WHOLE VIDEO details the reasons? Even if fully restored, bare metal and all new parts, these vintage vehicles remain as dangerous as ever. They should be banned from road use, NEVER be allowed any modification which increases potential speed, (speed limiters to 40mph would be best). They are coffins and a potentially fatal liability to any occupant.I mean to say ANY vehicle built between 1850 and 2000 should be categorized as'NOT FOR GENERAL HIGHWAY USAGE' - - CLUB REGISTRATION ONLY - - SPEED LIMITED'Easier and cheaper to scrap em or put em in museums.
this is directed to anyone who comments and not the man who made the
video..the point that everyone overlooks with this topic is the fact that
the IIHS and even the entire world wants you to beleive that the new cars
are the safest most reliable etc etc.EVERYONE KNOWS THE NEWER CARS ARE
SAFER FOR THE DRIVER IN SOME INSTANCES BUT NOT STRONGER OR BETTER
BUILT..the test might have been fake and it might not have but the point is
the 58-64 GM cars were built like crap and were made out of thinner guage
metal and were torn to shreds in every wreck. GM buids the cheapest cars
FORD is a little better but not much and MOPAR/CHRYSLER builds the
strongest and best cars all around, i love all old cars but i am a mopar
guy which i wasnt before i learned about them and started working on all
types and makes of cars ive had GM FORD AND MOPAR cars and the MOPARS
impressed me the most, the bodies being built very sturdy, the frames built
strong and safe with great engines as well, i curently own a 1957 plymouth
belvedere and i know for a fact that that car would never fold up the way
the 59 chevy did, come back and defend your shitty new cars with some proof
other than what you learn off the internet. PERIOD
+32barrier440BarracudashakerGood for you, wild cars, i too was a lover of those old beasts...But... ALL American cars are pretty much CRAP, the 1970's were little better, but yes there was the belated introduction of the collapsible steering column and radial tires, and so on. But these were things developed long before in other brands, and were particularly important in American cars for several reasons. One was the over-sized overpowered drive-train. Another was occupant safety. (there was none). With most European makes, the engine capacity, vehicle weight, interior layout and structural design agglomerated into an effectively safer vehicle. However, the moment you increase the top speed of ANY vehicle you need full revision of construction technique. In other words, most American and derivative design vehicles should be banned from road use altogether.Never modified.Never altered EXCEPT to REDUCE the top speed potential (speed limiters to 40 mph).Nothing built before 2000ad is truly road safe. And there is plenty of room for further improvement.::: SEE 1978 Plymouth crash test (example) and imagine that thing at even higher speeds!!
The test was NOT fake. It is a certified test. Fact is, old cars are dangerous, no matter what deluded people say. The only fault with the tests are they are LOW speed, so multiply the effects 3 or 4 times, or more for real world conditions.
