Thanks so much! I'm so looking forward to the end of the year and getting the book—if I can manage to keep going on it. :-/

A page a day really isn't much. It can be a bit daunting if said new author knows how many words actually fit on a page, but it's less than most authors expect to write in a day, which makes it a great starting point. (I know you mention 250 words toward the end of the video, but an 8 1/2 x 11 page holds close to 1000 words. I have no idea why publishers still use; or began using in the first place; the 250 standard.) I might try that out for myself. It sounds like a fun way to force myself into a normal schedule, which is so very difficult for me to set.

I think 250 words a page came about because of the old trade paperback books. If you count them they are about 250 words, give or take. Also a page of hand written words is about 250 words, depending on how small/big your hand writing is. So on average one hand written page translated to about one printed page. Plus when you do manuscripts or essays for college they almost always want them as 12 pt font, double spaced, which also averages to about 250 to 300 words. It's just a convention that's held over, and one that makes projects like this doable.

250 words fit on a 5.5x8.5 page - the size of most my books. Trade paperbacks hold about 300, but I think that trim size is just a bit too big for all but the largest books. But yeah! 250 a day is very doable and so far I'm keeping it up. snicker

"I can. It remains to be seen if I will." I feel like that's my personal motto for everything. XD Good luck to you, Garrett! I'll cheer from the sidelines!
