Unfortunately, this is somewhat suboptimal for me because I have
standardized my EDC batteries to be AAA. That gives me a lot more
limitations on flashlights, but for EDC I've rarely found a good AAA light
to be a "limitation". Especially since my EDC light is a 4Sevens Preon P2
(with upgrades) or a Streamlight ProTac 2AAA.
Stock, I prefer the Streamlight—better clip and a button that's hard to
click accidentally. But if you buy a quality clip for the Preon (and NO
you should NOT have to, Cliff's rant was right on with that one!) and swap
the metal button out for a rubber one… The UI of the Preon is much more
useful than the ProTac starting with low beam.
And why AAA? My flashlight uses AAA, my radio uses AAA, my iPad keyboard
uses AAA, and I carry between 4 and 12 of them in my backpack in a small
case. I suppose I could just as easily have gone with AA for all of those
(a great flashlight like this one, a AA-powered radio would give me a
speaker, and the Apple keyboard is among the best and uses AAs…) But all
of those are larger or heavier or both. Not by much, maybe, but after
several miles you start feeling every ounce.
I know you had/have the preon 2. In your opinion, does this flashlight have
a better throw on the beam than the preon 2. I feel like my preon is more
of a flood light and I'd like something that will carry a greater
distance.( if that makes any sense lol). Thanks, great video as always
I used to think that the Quark Mini AA2 had better throw than the Preon 2, so now I feel that the M2A would definitely since the extra 20% really makes a difference (as demonstrated in the wall tests in this video). None will be as good as a larger, higher lumen output flashlight like a fancy Fenix, Thrunite, Surefire, etc. But for EDC I feel it provides me with plenty.
I had a large goof in the original version, so I re-filmed and re-uploaded. Unfortunately, all of the previous views, likes and comments are in the phantom zone. Sorry for any confusion. Just couldn't stand the thought of there being that major of a goof in the Special Output modes section. Now I have peace of mind. :)
Not sure if you've seen this buddy, but explains the reupload :)https://www.facebook.com/GotPreps/posts/823666640995515
