Automation [Ep. 220] - BMW M3 F80 Replica
Maybe the taillights are a bit off but overall I'm quite happy with how this turned out. If you haven't pre-ordered Automation already, you can do it on Steam or ...
It's cool seeing a replica: you definitely nailed the front end on this
car. Also, I wish with automatics there was a way you could set shift
points other than just the engine redline and, on the terms of RPM, I'd
like to have the ability to change each gear individually so you could
change each individually liked you can with a real transmission.
It's a shame because it would really add a lot, especially for what the game is right now as just a car designer. It'd also go a long way in helping with fuel economy, but hey, who cares because we've got enough to play around with right now.
+Sedan57Chevy Yeah, people on the forums have asked for more individualisation possibilities on gearboxes too, but that would require a whole new tab, a "gearbox designer" like we have an engine designer and the devs said that would be too much work relative to how much impact it has on the game.
don't do replicas! do something innovative, do something along the lines of
a 07-12 BMW 335i. but your own style, make the lights, make a different
grille than you usually do, try something new. I love how good you are with
this game but it seems you stay in your comfort zone with the designs.
just my opinion and I'm not at all trying to be a hater, just someone that
appreciates what you can do, and wants to see more exploration of this
awesome game
I appreciate constructive criticism, I apologize if my previous reply suggested otherwise. What I'm saying is, I'll never be able to please everyone at once. And it's difficult to come up with unique styles on the fly while also trying to commentate what I'm doing at the same time, and then not taking forever doing all that in order not to get people bored. Plus, the end result might split people's opinions and that's good for attracting attention but it might also lead to some disrespectful comments like I've had in some rare occasions in the past.So yeah, there's positives and negatives about pretty much everything in life. Have a nice day!
+Tom Henks also, I'm not being an ass, I'm trying to give you constructive criticism. if you can't take that, and can only build euro style cars than just say so, don't hide behind trends. innovation isn't about following trends.
+Tom Henks I understand car culture and car design, and I agree that most cars these days, and for a while now, they have had a similar feature so that their cars are recognizable to that brand, maybe you need a new brand that isn't a euro, then there'd be more difference between them but what would I know, right? from what you said, as long as you like it, that's all that counts.
+Travy Godfree I do innovative designs from time to time, especially on stream. It's just that you know, when I started out on youtube, for the first couple of months I did mostly custom designs with different techniques, trying to figure out the best way to create a unique but also refined look rather than a couple of fixtures thrown at the car that don't fit together. I tried doing that while recording, and the videos ended up being 40+ minutes long, with 30 minutes being the aesthetics only, and a lot of people said I should tone that down a bit because fiddling with the design for that long gets boring at some point. So I worked out a "design language" for my virtual company, AMW, and stuck with that. And for ESE, my 2nd company, I went into a different direction design-wise, again trying to create a design language that works well for most of their cars. And having a consistent design language in a company is not necessarily a bad thing in my opinion, just look at car manufacturers in real life.
