@EagleFence2906 Plants are .. alive.. not sure where you got your
education. It's all a chain of life. If the cat could sustain it's self on
plants, it would do that. It can't. It evolved to eat things that eat
plants and seeds. It's whole being is tuned to eat things that move. So, if
your going to attack others in harsh black and white terms.. you had better
be 100% correct in what you spout off... or someone may call you on your
folly as well. Now.. let's let the cats be cats... eh?
Awe this is adorable! And come on, everyone knows cats eat fish! O_o That's
like saying I can't eat salad because the plant was once a living organism!
I resent being called stupid. We rescued this cat from a family who gave
him no attention. He started to become violent as a means of getting
attention. By the time we got him we were attacked regularly, where he
would bit my upper arm. We slowly rehabilitated him by giving him lots of
positive attention. He is now a demanding, loving, and a brat. i need to
borrow a camera to shoot some more of him.. and his nephew Kumi (F2, 25%
African Serval) his vocalizations sound like a crying baby
He sounds mad, but really he's trying to purr. Wild cats don't have the
ability to purr just as domestic cats can't growl quite like wild cats.
This cat has a strong line of Serval, which is a wild cat, and may have
been born with a Serval's rumble box rather than a cat's, but being raised
a s a cat, would learn to purr when he's content or happy. That is the
resulting sound.
Thanks for writing that, as the owner of a very loving F2, I could never
even imagine my little guy behaving so badly. My initial reaction was to
blame you as well. But I do understand that rescue animals have often gone
through very hard and traumatic times. I'm glad to hear your little guy is
doing better and has found a happy home.
gotta check on this, i've had the normal house cats all my life and when
you play with them and you piss them off or just irritate them, and most
people will do with their animals, the cat gets to a point, dont be
touching me, with big tail wags and noise, thats what i'm seeing, are these
half wild breeds any different
Bengals, Servals and Savannah breeds do this. They are not mad or in attack
mode. When an exotic cat is mad their ears lay back and they stare into
what their mad at. This Serval was simply loving the petting and was
letting the owner know. My Bengal makes a similar sound while eat sometimes
with no one near her.
Okay, the fact remains: that cat is not purring. It's ticked off. I
understand why the forced petting is being used. I've owned hybrids and
have a bengal now. The animal is not being mistreated and it is not
purring, either. People are sensitive. Post an update for us some time.
I know it was mad, cuz as I was watching it, my kitty got scared and
squeezed under the dishwasher and wouldn't come out. I could not entice her
at all. My husband had to take the front of the dishwasher off to get her
out. Very Scarey Kitty.
he won't attack. his ears never arched back and he never really stared at
the owner in the eyes. those are sure signs you need to back off. heshe is
probably just a fossy guy/gal.
wow he sounded like a lion! and yes he was mad, he wouldn't have opened his
mouth that way, growling. jeez growling is so much different than purring
haah
Thanks you, I would never say "vast experience" just some experience. BCR
probably does not have that much experience with Savannahs. I really think
that we as pet owners or breeders need to make sure that our pets never
produce unwanted offspring and that they are properly socialized. I want
anyone that is thinking of owning any hybrid cat take that decision very
seriously. It needs to be a well thought out and life long decision. Do the
research and visit with the kitten.
Thank you for that! I have never met a savannah, but it seems to me that
they are just as reliable as any cat. You just need to be able to read
them, to communicate. Servals obviosly are interested in communicating with
humans, so why would a hybrid be such a bad thing? In the BCR video you see
a serval hissing through the fence, as is that was something a domestic cat
would never have done. All cats go wild if they aren't cept with humans.
@gnusyster It really depends on what we consider "reliable". I have seen
some cats that mark / pee and some that do not. I have not been able to
tell why. Servals tend to hiss a lot when communicating my cats will do the
same even my lower % savannahs do. Apollo an F5 (3% serval) will sometimes
hiss when someone approaches him but then will want attention from that
person. He has never bitten anyone.
Wonderful video! We just brought our two new Savannah babies home a few
days ago and they have wonderful litter box habits. It's so funny because
they both go in the box at the same time. When they are finished they
actually wipe their paws on the side to remove any stray litter before
getting on the carpet. Now if I could just get my existing cat to do that!
:)
Thank you for your video. I can tell your cats adore you. I too have a F1
Savannah and my friend has a F4. BCR's claims would be a lot more
believable if they qualified their statements saying THEIR --not ALL--
Savannahs behave in a certain way. I could believe that. Without
qualifications, BCR's statements are intentionally misleading.
lol, Yes, I think he is the best "actor" of the whole bunch. I have not
really been making that many films of late anyway. Just that the BCR video
hit me kind of "Off Key". Knowing what I know about Savannahs, it just
makes me wonder how accurate the other videos they have are. What
propaganda are they spreading?
Big Cat Rescue knows that most of the stuff they said are false but since
they don't agree with mating Servals and Domestic Cats they'll say anything
to get people to agree with them. They should of just came out and said
they don't agree with that instead of lying and making the Savannahs out to
be horrible.
Thank you for demonstrating and describing the truth about Savannahs in
response to that very misleading clip from BCR. I am glad the record is
being set straight. I hope some of BCR's supporters see this (and your
other videos), and realize how wrong that organization's tactics have been.
In general you need a USDA license to own a Serval. I Don't own one and
never have owned a Serval. I don't know all the issues relating to Serval
husbandry. I see Savannahs as being a cat that kinda looks special like a
Serval but still a domestic house cat.
@gnusyster I live on 4 acres and have a couple of ferral cats running the
property. I have caught one of them before to neuter and release. Dealing
with that cat was probably the most scariest incidences with cats that I
have had.
What a wonderful video Leonard. I love the way your Savannahs respond to
you. And am totally impressed that you can clip their nails so easily. That
is something I can not do with my Harley.
Thanks for the great reply to BCR! My Savannahs never have a problem with
using the litter box, but my domestic sometimes doesn't hold it as well as
she should. GREAT video, thanks!!
In our Savannah and Serval Channel you see several times a week new videos with and over Savannah cats and servals! Be enchanted by the wildest cats in ...
