is there any controversy to how there is for the wolfdogs? i really want
this animal but not if it deals with the same problems as other cross bred
animals between domestic and wild. this is my favorite cat but i don't want
to put the cat through issues between having domestic and wild tendencies
I don't understand the logic of banning this cat because of potential
environmental damage of the escapees. What ecosystem damage could it do
that invasive domestic cats haven't already done?
its dumb....like if it breeds with a regular cat typically it would be a smaller cat....animal planet is off with uh hmmmm everything....20k and 30lbs...
Well, as long as it's only decided upon at the state or local level, but be that as it may, I agree that this is ridiculous. The reasoning and logic sounds nonsensical and arbitrary.
+Michael Kors they are really cats mine ( Jingles ) is not purebred the lady we got him from is a lier she told us not to test him for feline leukemia because she already tested him and he was negative lier she tested him he was positive but she put him up for adoption anyway we tested him and he was positive we told her she said she would take him back and give us a kitten for free ummm heck noooo no one is taking my baby from me
+Moonie TREOS LOL yup i must look good enough for you to even think i edited my pictures but i don't i'm just that sexy. ^_~ i see i pissed you off though so that's laughable
+Moonie TREOS lol cause you are the cat expert right? i will believe you if you show up on cat's 101 until then stop acting like you know everything and STFU . you are Another person who thinks they know more then professional's . Also the cat breeds share a lot of the same markings, so you are clearly mistaken, just because you own a CAT breed does not make you an expert pretending you are makes you a dumb ass .
+Kydlid Bimmer If you are serious about wanting one of these and the investment and care required you can join groups on facebook like savannahkatzone , there are various ones to choose from, you will get good advice there.
All joking aside, this manly KITTEH looks very sturdy, meaty and extremely
musty....like he has too much testosterone coursing through his body. I
assume he can become very, VERY bombastic around babies and little kiddies,
use MUCH caution!!!!!!!!!!
+R8chelFair Dogs are MUCH more adapted to humans and civilization when compared to Kittehs. I believe that Kittehs have been living among humans about 1/3 as long as Dogstinkers have.
+asc083 UMMMMMMM, yeah......you sound like one of those Blockheadbull owners, right before their NANNY-DOG chows-down on their kid. I could imagine Hugekitteh getting very bombastic and violent during "playtime"........then little kiddy playfully pulls Hugekitteh's tail, and then your kiddy is DONE FOR!!!!!!!
+Peachy Pie A Serval can take-down deer and gazelle. F1 can take-down little Kiddies and babies, sure enough!!!!!!!! Don't let that sucka get too hungry around small prey!
+asc083 YOU say that.....but look at the very manly and bombastic-looking KITTEH in this video!!! Little kiddies tick him off, he could possibly............well, let's just say I would not leave a little kid alone with this wild-eyed monster!!!!!!!!!
I'm the Queen of Cats.
I have a cat army, with over 1000 cats. But we need more cats to join, as
big cats have joined too. So, can your cat paw-ese lend a helping paw? We
need it to protect our feline friends and fight away those pesky dogs.
Thanks for everyone's cats/kittens for joining in. They like our HQ and
work very hard! And this is true. If you do not belive me either, then your
on a dogs side or what. CATS ARE GOING TO RULE THE WORLD.... Soon.
Thanks Every cat and humans,
The Queen of Cats ;)
Your cat will get this -------- ------, and they ---- -- -- --- -- - --.
Sorry every human! Only cats can read it! But if your that desperate to
know, then your cat will join the HQ and translate it (if you understand
cat, of course!)
The only problemwith savannahas is that if they ever get loose, they are
NOT comming back! You need a GPS locating coller and a microchip implanted.
The GPS is the first thing to go if somone wants to steal the animal so you
need a back-up for when if it goes to the vet, it can be IDed and returned
to you. Almost everyone I've know to keep these cats has been targeted for
robbery. They are sold for $150-500 stolen. Alot less than you gave for
them. The microchip is your last hope for a stolen cat
@broadsurf I do love animals and have had domestic cats sharing my home
(with me as their maid!!) for 15 years. I have no concern about this
particular cats welfare and can see you love her very much. My only concern
and it's a general one is that I have seen the damage they can do when not
properly looked after, and many people buy them and can't cope with the
responsibility of a bigger cat. You clearly aren't one of them and your cat
is beautiful and obviously a family member.
@Ingiequeen Don't be so ridiculous. My cats are neutered and in no way
contributing to a feral population. I live in a very quiet area, my eldest
cat is 13 and still healthy and happy. When I have lived in built up areas,
where the cats could have been hurt, they have been kept inside. Hunting is
a cats nature - mice etc are part of the food chain - its the natural
order. I have 2 well loved moggies. How do you think cats survived before
we domesticated them? Get a grip.
I think this is disgraceful. That cat is a beautiful born hunter, and to
take it for a walk in a concrete jungle on a harness is an insult to the
nature of the animal. I love cats - but allow mine to go out and hunt and
the idea of putting a lead on them is ridiculous to me.. It's almost as if
having a wild cat is a status symbol for the bored and wealthy. I don't
doubt this animal is loved - but it should be in the wild where it belongs.
@bluebuzzybee My cat was certainly not rare or valuable to anyone but his
family. But he was leash trained and we lived in 6 different homes. He was
never lost, or hit by a car, shot by farmers. When he was really old, deaf
and mostly blind we could still go out for walks. Some of my friends went
thru a lot of 'natural' cats during the 19 years I lived with Wacko.
if u put a domestic cat in the wild it becomes a feral cat and the
government has feral cat exterminations..hence u'd be signing it's
death..living in a city is no place for a cat under normal circumstances so
instead of trying to keep the critter as an indoor cat isn't it better to
give it at least some freedom of the outdoors in a safe and secure way..?
This is true. An F1 Savannah is worth a lot. Brings a high price. But, it
has to be someone who knows their value, most people don't. And the thief
will need connections to a well-monied buyer. But they do get stolen from
time to time. Fortunately, for both the Savannahs and their owners, the
market isn't very big. Magic is a fabulously gorgeous cat!!
this is not a wild cat. why are so many people so dumb these days. this is
a domestic cat, just like other cats u have seen before, only difference is
that it looks exotic. and its completely normal to put a cat on a leash. i
have a bengal nd shes quiet timid and shy so i have to put her on a leah to
take her outside. its not "disgraceful"
You have so much respect for the wilderness that you let your cat out to
massacre the local prey species? Domestic cats are the world's number one
invasive species - a protected predator if you will, and videos and
respected animals like these that encourage responsible ownership and what
a pet cat can be are a great thing IMO.
@bluebuzzybee It is a cross bred, domesticated cat. Allowing your cats
outside to hunt, is the very reason there are so many feral cats, hunting
and killing wildlife. It's also very dangerous for the cat, at risk of
cars, people, harsh weather etc. And if they are not desexed...it just
contributes to the feral cat population.
She is beautiful!! I have a male Bengal Tiger, they are a little smaller
than the savannah cats. Though they both have the beautiful spots that make
them look exotic!! I could never walk my male, Homer, he falls over like
hes in shock every time we take him outside! They all have such nice
character to them, beautiful cat!
@fish8cat Most dogs are more dangerous than this cat. I have a twenty pound
cat that would never dream of acting the least bit aggressive. In fact, the
dominant cat in this house is a six pound runt. Most cats are a direct
reflection of their owners, or at least the first few months of upbringing.
of course it is, how anyone can think its disgraceful i just don't know its
for their own safety and some of them like their walks, these cats were
never loose in the jungle like some seem to think so they don't miss
stalking their prey they are a breed of small cat just like a tabby or
Siamese
@nickyroose mmmm do you know what, I'm so bored by answering these
comments. I'd really like to say I will not keep my moggies in. Stop
commenting. I don't agree with you. Oh and I don't line in NA so ..........
I'm pretty sure my cats aren't going to decimate the sparrow population of
the uk!
Serval Cat Playing With Kids
This is a Serval cat playing with my kids, in our home. You can see he is very gentle although big and clumsy. He is a very large and very powerful. Being a wild ...
+The Chronic Serval claw, house cat claw. They'd both mess up an eye pretty badly, but it would likely be an accident if something like that was to happen. Cats don't purposely try to scratch peoples faces, they'd go for limbs and such.
Wild animals are not pets, and they shouldn't be treated as such, it's bad
for the animals!
Wild animals have evolved over the course of millions of years as
independent, free-living beings. They have needs, instincts and behaviors
that are inseparably tied both to their appropriate habitat, and to a
free-living state. It is inappropriate and inhumane to force a wild animal
to live the captive life of a pet. Wild animals belong in the wild.
I wish you wouldn't own a wild animal. I think it is mean. I live in
Australia and I think your children could be equally served by having a
domestic cat. This looks like you want a status symbol. I feel very sorry
for it not being able to be the wild animal it is supposed to be.
+Lesleigh Hart Actually all cats are wild, none have been domesticated. Besides, how is asking people to feel sorry for the pampered pet that is enjoying a far better life than he would have had in the wild logical?
+Lesleigh Hart Servals have been domesticated since 1960's by the way and this one was obviously from a breeder. That makes it domesticated thus it is not a wild animal it is domesticated
You and I are coming from very different points of view. Best I can do is point you to Big Cat Rescue. I have an ethical problem with what is going on. If you cannot see it already and the servals that do get rescued by Big Cat Rescue, as well as other wild cats, such as lions and tigers, then we are at an impasse.
+Lesleigh Hart Do a quick google search and see that that serval is acting like any other cat. It doesn't want to leave them! It is having fun, so what is the problem?
domestic animals, such as a domestic cats or dogs are many thousands of generations bred out of the wild, so they no longer act wish to be in the the wild and in fact are dependant on humans for survival. The same is not true of Servals.
+Lesleigh Hart All domestic animals were once wild. If a person is nice, treats it well, and gives it food and water, than what is the problem? That serval is having the time of it's life, by the looks of it.
