Even at home, I spend most time alone and have had to become my own best
friend. Only in work/office situations do I deal with others -- and I
usually like it a lot because it's a welcome change! There's a monastery in
Montmartre where couples with children can stay, nuns provide babysitting,
and you can come and go. The rates are really reasonable but booking way in
advance is needed. I loved not being pressured to go to any services. I
went to enjoy them -- no pressure! Great!! xo
The busiest maternity ward in all of France is on this avenue kind of,
where you can see the traffic originating from. I can't see why the rich
get a stipend for each child, same as those with less money, but that is
how it is here. Otherwise, benefits are extremely slim here by American
standards. No way to live off them, and no food stamps here at all. But
it's hard to compare because the healthcare system is subsidized and
universal (though favors those with stop gap policies).
It's a silent order of cloistered nuns right in central Paris and I went on
a spiritual retreat. They left me alone and I could either go to chapel or
not. I had to stay in. You just pay what you can there and women who are
abused or need some time out go there, apparently. I just couldn't believe
I was in the heart of the city there! There was a wonderful tortoise in the
garden and I loved sharing my fruit with it! The food there was really good
but I was always alone. Peaceful!
I feel marginally better. That's not much, but it's welcome after months of
this!! I lost my taste for red wine long ago, don't drink beer or hard
liquor, and got spoiled by the white wines of Alsace, but I do like rosé
wine, which is a careful mix of red and white. And I should never drink it,
hee hee! Now that I feel better, my appetite is returning. The French feel
a weekly blowout (usually Sunday lunch) is a great thing, and I agree!!
There are lots of parks and green spaces right in this nabe but the noise
here on this avenue is just dreadful. Thank heaven it's illegal to honk
your horn here in France unless it's a matter of life and death. The three
public schools right next to each other here are really necessary. Lots of
kids! The avenue is a big one for getting North of Paris and also for
getting into Paris. Really not pleasant.
Thanks! Actually, in Bruges was where I "got the Jesus thing" ten years
ago! I haven't had any gout in so long, I kind of forgot about it. I was
drinking grapefruit juice daily to regulate my blood pressure spikes and
... wrong move! Also, I had some shrimp meals. Wrong move! It really is
nasty. My late father had it. I was feeling blue, so fried some liver.
Wrong move! Ah ha ha ha ha!! xo
I only saw one other outside woman in the convent, and she had a portable
typewriter in the garden. We exchanged smiles. She may have been there to
get some writing done. I did want a spiritual retreat but also "down time."
My room was huge! My spouse had to make an appointment to come visit me and
was only allowed in a visiting room and the chapel. Cool!
A lot of the good Alsatian stuff stays local. People go there for vacation
and arrange to have it shipped back home for their cellars. I had a bottle
of it in NY in 2010 and it was only so-so, but of course they charged a lot
for it. My week in Alsace I only had one glass of wine but mine was in a
sauna and it was a really pleasant experience. Ahhhh!
I kept hearing how bad British (and Scottish) food is but every time I
visited, I thought it was great! When I could, I ordered game or a local
specialty, but even the basic beef was just fine. I liked beans on toast,
ha ha! Never did try Yorkshire pudding but I would definitely eat it. I'm
off the wine but a cool rosé goes with so many things.
Hm, I'm not sure. Just don't like extreme heat, that is for sure. (A sauna,
you can get out of, ha ha!) I note I have been cold all year this year.
That is not normal for me. I put the flannel sheets on and all the blankets
and am still cold, but I'm going through heart, kidney and liver failure,
so there ya go.
Ah ha ha ha ha!! I wonder when the last time was I had a restaurant meal?!!
Oh, wait, I took out some Japanese in January ... ! No, I'm very ill these
days. I hobbled home and ate some watermelon and a raw carrot! Exciting!
Also, Mr. Stingy didn't leave me any money when he left town! xo
I got such flak from my French family over even taking adult catechism and
staying in a convent for awhile! Sheesh! In the past year, Christians have
really turned me off to Christianity. I am fed up with their intolerance,
their proselytzing, their hair-splitting.
Distilled water, often, is supposed to be good for weight loss so I will
try that next. The gout has improved a bit. The whole Spring was a
write-off, however, and a painful one, too, as you know, as a past
sufferer!
Which islands? As much as I disliked Vancouver culture, the weather was a
blessing to me and I never got sick, except a sore throat when the
Fukushima fallout arrived a week after the explosions. -"tarotworldtour"
I have been so happy with the clips on lisafalour at Dailymotion. It would
be fun to migrate more over there but there is no social dialogue there.
I'm still reeling from what your runes revealed to you earlier.
I used to just love that in Brooklyn, NY. I've bought goat here in France
to make a springtime Southern dish with powdered almonds and it was really
good but the spouse didn't care for it.
Hi! I am trying to pull myself along. Onward and upward! Egad, gout is
lousy. I really should have laid off the citrus fruit this past winter, but
NOOOOOOO! Ugh. xo
I guess I could certainly go back but I'm on call for work four days per
week. The wine IS good here. Oh, no! Gout attack, ha ha ha ha!! Wine!! Ah
ha ha ha ha!! xo
It sounds like you benefit mostly from a maritime climate. I need dampness
in order to not be sick. Any dryness or dust and my body falls apart.

Thanks! There used to be more interaction possible on Dailymotion. At least
over there, I don't get picked on by the likes of powergirl. He just won't
stop!!

Of course they are going to go on round 2. They don't even know the map. It's most likely there first time playing it so I would like to see you make it to a high round your first time you play this map. -.-
