+Between Chapters totally true; I think I just meant the wow-factor had been decreased a bit because of Jamie and Cersei's full frontal introduction, but you're right that they're totally different circumstances (and the Lannisters are pretty effed up anyway)... Jace definitely has some issues, and I think part of the Shadowhunter mentality of "keeping the race alive" may have factored in a bit to it too, but Clary, who grew up in the NORMAL world, definitely knows better. 

+WhyMermaids I was spoiled by the movie too!!! HORRIBLE MOVIE!! I had read only the first book before seeing it, but it didn't make reading their thoughts about each other in books 2 and 3. Game of Thrones approaches incest in a totally different way to me. It's portrayed as a bad thing, a scandal. Those characters might be in love but it seems to be stemming from some insecurity or issue. I think Jace has plenty of childhood trauma, lol but he didn't grow up with Clary to for a bond from a young age, so to me it was like, ughhhh you know better!

+Between Chapters Yeah I wasn't all that into them as a pairing after City of Bones. Of course I was absolutely devastated when I found out they were supposedly related & I kept hoping that she would somehow fix it but then it was like Okaaayyyy this is DEFINITELY incest now haha xD And then when the whole Sebastian thing happened, I was like "SERIOUSLY CASSANDRA STOP WITH THE INCEST ALREADY." I have to be honest - I'm glad the whole Clace thing worked out in the end, though, they're still one of my favourite fictional couples :D 

+happycomesfirst I started the series about 2 years ago, and only finished it in December. I was late to the game too and had been spoiled about what they really were, but I was just freaking out at all their mixed thoughts about it! I was so over the back and forth, are you or aren't you my brother, than in book 3 when we first meet Sebastian I was like, yes Clary, please go date this other dude and get over Jace. And then LOL WE ALL KNOW HOW THAT TURNED OUT.

+mynameismarines I kind of liked that plot twist of having a long lost brother that no one else knew survived except the evil wannabe overlord. I can see how it fit into the story because family ties are a huge part of the story. But yeah, after that... whyyy whyyyyyyy. Being a teenager was not THAT hormoney for me. I knew the spoiler as well, but it didn't make it easier to read a makeout scene where the internal dialogue was "he's my brother, but omg his abs and his magic tongue." Blech. Can't.

There is a whole new story going on in the next 3 books and it's really fitting. I enjoyed some parts of it more than the story from the first 3 books. I think you'll be alright! You should try reading them alongside The Infernal Devices series in the order all the books were published, there are a lot of crossover hints that make the experience really fun.

Completely agree, I have a feeling when I carry on the series I won't like them as much as a couple. Either something will go wrong or it will just get on my nerves haha, I like romance in books but sometimes it can be a bit too much :') I'm anxious to carry on in case I end up not liking the series as a whole, it's a shame she didn't stop at 3 books. +Emma Hunter I think Book 3 was my favorite of the series as well. It wrapped up that first arc so well and left me feeling really fulfilled! She originally only meant it to be a 3 book series.As I said, I don't blame Clary and Jace for not knowing when they began their relationship. I'm not passing judgement on that because their motives weren't in the wrong place. However, I feel it's ok for me to draw the conclusion that their behavior is "wrong" after that point since they themselves say over and over how wrong THEY think it is to keep developing a romantic relationship.There are other books/movies that approach the topic of incest and forbidden love in a much more thought provoking and challenging way, and although it's not a topic I wish to read about often, I agree that it's an interesting discussion. I just didn't see it presented as making a statement in these books, other than to create some teen angst. It was presented as "wrong" and wasn't really explored beyond the drama it lent to the story. I felt for them in the moment so it served its purpose, I just could never get over it later in the series. I question what their relationship is really built on. I think they are meant to be together in this world and I did enjoy them much more in books 4-6, but they just aren't my favorite. :(
