+Mihailo Mihailovic Also the list is hardly accurate as well bc the criteria, death percentage, is quite frankly crap. There are tons of more dangerous jobs out there, like antenna repair crews, that don't make the list because, what, not enough people die doing it?
+BlazeCyborg That depends...what are you doing in the military? I'm betting that someone that works as a clerk in HQ doesn't see much more than a papercut, while a combat arms career soldier sees possible death on every deployment. There are many careers in the military that don't put you in harms way. Construction worker is a more dangerous job by far. Oil field or rig workers should be up there as well. I was surprised how low police were - but again, the numbers tell a tale. Many cops work in pretty safe spots...while there are some that work in literal combat zones.
+ohyehbaby 3o5 Ever do forestry? I'm betting not. It's dangerous. Very dangerous. It isn't cutting tree's in your back yard...they're out in the wilderness with no way out in an emergency except by helo. Add the large equipment (skidders, trucks, cargo helo's, etc), large animals (bears, mountain lions), chain saws, and trees falling sometimes unpredictably that are huge... Oh, and don't forget the insects... Every day...10 to 12 hours a day, in all weather. It's a job ya gotta love doing.
Pilot more dangerous than the military? O_o
Apparently, it is more dangerous to be a Pilot - flying statistically the
safest mode of transport on Earth - than it is fighting a war and possibly
coping with PTSD...
+TLMYC Flying is statistically safe because of the number of passengers involved...There aren't that many pilots - so when a crash happens...it affects a greater percentage of the whole lot... so - it's more dangerous for them statistically.
+elias37100 Dude - that wasn't on. The members of the US military - or ANY military deserve more respect than that. If a person serves their country by enlisting - no matter what country that is...they deserve respect.
+ULTIMATE GAMER By the numbers, I think you are right. How many astronauts (and cosmonauts) have there been vs how many have died... I think you hit it.
