Veteran Harley rider discusses his loud pipes
Veteran motorcycle rider Tony Sanfelipo of Milwaukee thinks loud exhaust pipes on motorcycles help the rider be heard and seen by motorists. Video by Michael ...
My pipes are loud. But I ride past my neighbors and through populated areas
with respect. Loud pipes aren't very obnoxious when used wisely. But as the
guy said I can make them bark when needed. It's idiots with no respect that
cause problems
Loud Biker Thugs will tell you that “Loud Pipes Save Lives.” This is a
myth, a lie, and nothing but an excuse for bad behavior.
Loud pipes do nothing but increase rider fatigue; increase rider reaction
time to audible stimuli; unnecessarily assault the citizenry with illegal
decibel levels that are especially dangerous to our children and our
elderly; startle the unsuspecting caged public resulting in a
fight-or-flight response; violate the right of every citizen to exist
within an environment free from excessive and dangerous noise levels. The
Hurt Report clearly debunks the Loud Pipes Save Lives myth…the truth is,
Loud Pipes Violate Rights.
Let’s follow the Loud Bikes Save Lives argument to its logical conclusion.
If “noise” is truly the answer to traffic safety then let’s install sirens
on bicycles and mopeds. Let’s require that every motor vehicle under a
specified gross weight operate continually with its horn activated. And
again, If noise is the answer to accident avoidance, why aren’t Goldwing,
BMW LT – RT – GS riders falling like flies? Operators of these motorcycles
are some of the safest, most professional riders on the roadways. Noise as
a safety factor is pure NONSENSE and only serves to feed the hedonistic,
selfish, personality of the loud thug biker community!
Want to be safer, a more professional, respectable biker? Wear bright
colored clothing, proper safety gear like a DOT approved full-face helmet,
gloves, heavy jeans, padded jacket, full MC boots and practice defensive
riding techniques.
Respect the public, don’t be a loud motorcycle THUG!

the Loud Motorcycle Cult[ure] in America!
+blitz krieg Actually not. On a quiet day, when a pinhead blasts by with his ear splitting pipes, ruins the experience. All for his arrogant FU attitude toward people. Making loud noises and annoying people is a form of mental illness just like those who blast their neighbors with loud bass music. It is an antisocietal general FU.
+Rickey Holtsclaw Agree 100 percent! Altered mufflers are against the law and the resulting noise is against the law. Those who do so exhibit sociophobic behavior.
+Rickey HoltsclawYou know what law i wouldn't mind though. Ban the sale of loud pipes and the installation of loud pipes by commercial businesses. If you bend the pipes, weld them, do everything yourself then you deserve the right to express yourself via your own creation on public roads. If you can't put this effort in then you haven't really earned the right to make the noise.
+Rickey Holtsclaw I recognize natural law, right lies in might. I keep all the rights i can, the more rules other men place upon me the more i become a slave. My children will then be born into this servitude.Customs, morals, rule of law, contributing to society... "we must disregard our selfish and egotistical desires to the wholeness of the national interest" that is a Hitler quote, best i can remember it.... i would not mind living in such a society, i would gladly fall in line... but we absolutely do not live in such a society. We have no customs, no morals, no law for the benefit and advancement of our people, We are not healthy, we are not smart, we are not industrial. We have no goal, no dream, no vision, we are not going to the stars. Our society is totally degenerate. In 100 years our race is has fallen from 40% of the world pop being the best and brightest in every field to 7% of world pop a bunch of effeminate jibbering degenerate fools twerking on each other.Loud pipes aren't the problem, just a very minor symptom. Moral inversion is the problem. Social engineers running psyche warfare on the pubic is the problem. Poison in the food and water is the problem. TV is the problem. Until we cure the disease we are going to have to live with the symptoms.By the way loud bikes probably annoy you so much because of your hatred of them. Ride one, blast around, learn all the different engines. Then you will probably smile every time you hear a loud bike. I know i do. Is it because i enjoy being "bothered" by the sound. No, i enjoy knowing somebody is having a good time, i enjoy being able to tell its a new flat plain r1, on old 70s air cooled I4, a Harley, a Ducati, single cylinder dual sport, etc. just by the sound.
+blitz krieg The operation of an illegally modified LOUD motor vehicle on a public roadway is NOT a protected "right." I am fully aware of the fact that you have matured in a society that worships at the throne of Moral Relativism, but the fact remains, we are a Nation and a people based on and governed by the rule of law...customs, mores, norms codified for the health, welfare, quality-of-life of the whole, not anyone's selfish and egotistical desires. The sooner you are able to get a handle on this concept the sooner you will become a functioning, contributing member of a society. Love your neighbor, respect his family, strive to do no harm, be kind and gentle to others, you will do well.Rick Holtsclaw, Houston PD/RetiredConcerned Citizens Against Loud Motorcycles - CCALM on Facebook
+Rickey Holtsclaw Sounds like more police state government bullshit trying to take people rights away. Move to north korea if you don't like freedom.I support bettering society so people respect one another enough not to bother others with noise. Once the government/police need to step in i don't support it. In fact at this point i would rather hear gunshots from the gestapo randomly executing people throughout the night.
+blitz krieg Viva Canada!!! Well at least Canada has some gutsy and tenacious citizens willing to stand and fight the vehicular NOISE bullies!!! Another news service publishes the heroic endeavors of Canada's brave!!!Article published: February 5, 2016, CBC News in British Columbia:"Motorcycle noise petition gets 4,300 signatures in Kootenays"Comment by Rick Holtsclaw, Concerned Citizens Against Loud Motorcycles:Canadian Citizens with the GUTS to stand-up against the vehicular NOISE bullies - I SAY THANK YOU!!! Wish my American counterparts had the same courage and tenacity. The purveyors of Loud Biker thuggery in the States are seeking a "special class" societal moniker and these irresponsible noise bullies pollute every Interstate and Municipality in the United States.Again...just a HUGE thank you for standing for common decency, respect for your neighbor, protecting the weak and defenseless in your society...your fight is honorable and just...keep up the good work!Rick Holtsclaw, Houston PD/Retired - Facebook and YouTube//www.cbc.ca/…/bri…/motorcycle-noise-petition-1.3436917
+19jody72Performance HDs are music, i love the sound of old shovelheads and ironheads that sort of thing too. Real monster Harleys are rare, and oh my god i believe you they are loud as hell. If i'm walking i will stop just to listen haha. I see one guy from time to time, no idea what kind of motor or bike he has but it must be pretty hot and high compression.Newer stock HDs somebody just thew some loud pipes on, eh kinda annoying. Only because they make lots of noise and don't go anywhere, but whatever. Doesn't bother me.Right behind me house is a busy backroad which connects to a parkway. Every kind of muscle car, sport bike, harley, lambo. ricer, you name it guns it 300ft behind my house. Plus i have a trail dirtbikes and quads go blasting up and down to an old sand quarry. I don't get how people can be annoyed. Oh, i forgot the train tracks lol. Then again this is Canada and people are considerate at night.
+19jody72 then that is good. I ride a Jeep. A close friend rode a motorcycle when I was in college and hit the back of a flat bed truck, flew in the air over it, landed on his head, severe concussion and was never the same again. He loved to count numbers after that and his temper was unpredictable. Then became a warlock in a coven. Enough for me.
+Lawrence Phelps Well, One of my Harleys is as loud as a top fuel dragster. I live in a respectable neighborhood and I respect my neighbors as they respect me. I do NOT fire it up at 7 in the morning and I do not come home late at night on it. I do not sit out there revving the shit out of it, I creep out of my neighbor hood quietly as I possibly can for a race bike.Yes, , I race my Harley. It has eaten plenty of the 13k RPM crotch rockets.. But you seem to be classifying all of us loud Harley owners into one, and if you are, then so be it. But one thing for sure, you shouldn't judge a book by its cover! What do you ride?
+19jody72 your last sentence sums it up. I think most cyclists are giving the finger to communities and people in general. I myself don't like being awakened at 7:30 am listening for the Harley with altered fart cans turn in from 3/4 a mile away, then blast by my place, then blast through town and then hear him 3/4 of a mile away and turn onto the main drag. does he care who he bothers? Nope. He only cares whether he impresses the biker chick with handkerchief on her head and her one tooth.
+Rickey Holtsclaw You are either delusional or deaf to not believe loud pipes can save lifes. It doesn't matter if you have been riding as a "professional" or not, makes no difference. You are simply another non believer. That's YOUR choice.Skills?? I will line my bike up ANY day of the week against you and your bike if you want to do some skill testing partner! I have been at this game for a very VERY long time too! No need to reply.. You are just another yuppie and Me as well as a lot of people could give a rats ass what you think!
+19jody72 Another peeve is guys with altered pipes who sits still in a parking lot and guns the engine for 10-15 minutes in the "hey look at me" stance. 8am on Saturday morning? who cares? it is all about me!
+blitz krieg then you are a considerate rider. in the city, they are a real annoyance. wake people up from sleeping, get dogs barking and kids crying, scare the crap out of people who put hands over ears. makes no sense. loud pipes save lives is the motorcycle version of the pit bull activist chant "it's the owner not the breed'.
+19jody72 I have owned, operated, maintained, some 31 motorcycles since age 12. I've ridden professionally for years and accumulated many hundreds-of-thousands-of-miles on motorcycles in all forms of weather and on a multitude of terrain surfaces. NEVER has NOISE been a factor in my safety and it's ridiculous to assume that NOISE is a viable motor vehicle SAFETY factor. The hubris of an individual who, with volition, involves himself/herself in an inherently dangerous activity then attempts to usurp the rule of law, respect for others, respect for common decency, in the name of "safety." Simply hypocritical and selfish-arrogance. If you're unable or lack the skill-set to ride a motorcycle among a caged public without making a NOISE nuisance of yourself - buy a truck! Don't be a noise-thug-bully! Rick Holtsclaw - Houston PD/RetiredLoud Motorcycles Suck - Facebook and YouTube
+Lawrence Phelps Vanity... which is why we choose to ride out in the country, along parkways, the desert, and everywhere else with a sparse population. Better yet dirtbikes out in the woods or sand whatever. These 450cc bikes are loud as hell nobody has the stock exhaust. If bikes were electric they would not be fun. If motorcycle races and everything else were quiet it would be shit.I dislike bothering people...unless i know they are real cunt crybabies. Then it becomes hysterically funny.
You clearly have never been in a situation where somebody almost hits you and if it wasn't for the drag pipes on my bike... I wouldn't be writing this today!
+Rickey Holtsclaw Bullshit. I used to see how far i could coast home until somebody backed out of their driveway into me. Loud pipes help a great deal letting drivers know you are around and where you are.
+Rickey Holtsclaw Strange. Some people need to focus on doing some volunteer work on helping sick children or elderly rather than a fake genital extension.
I think that was the name of my neighbor's Big Dog motorcycle, Pit Bull-what a coincidence! Anyway, the public has become infatuated with LOUD biker thuggery as Hollywood glamorizes the debased, arrogant, haughty, irresponsible lifestyle via movies, weekly dramas, advertisements making the bored accountant feel that he has to be free and cool so buy a Harley and "express your inner self." As a police officer, I worked second and third jobs to support my family. I remember working a job in the heart of Downtown at a very exclusive private club. The theme for the evening was "be a biker for a night." Very educated, "intelligent" lawyers wanted a fantasy party and they craved to be a "biker" for a night and live the fantasy. Loud bikers from around the City, some LOUD biker police officers, attended the gathering and socialized with the lawyers like a "big-brother" convention. It was shameful and embarrassing.Rick Holtsclaw, Loud Motorcycles Suck - Facebook Community Page
+Rickey Holtsclaw Yeah! Never had this problem before but it seems people are getting more and more "in your face" these days, if it isn't put bulls it is motorcycle noise or something else. Both pit bull owners and motorcyclists are insane when it comes to those. My county passed a pit bull ban because of numerous attacks.
I used to have two Houston area constables, man and wife, who owned two black Flh's with, what sounded like unbaffled oem pipes. The husband started his up at approximately 6am and allowed it to idle on and on and on as the exhaust emissions rattled our bedroom windows and vibrated the walls of our home. After he left, the neighbor across the street and to the right of my home cranked up his big Kawasaki V-twin with I think Vance and Hines. He roared down the street in front of our home and I am not sure words can adequately express the intensity of the decibel output of that motorcycle. Then later in the morning, the little man across the street and to the left of my home backed out his Big Dog with straight downswept pipes...cranked it up, let it idle as he checked his phone...when he accelerated, that bike could probably be heard for up to or greater than a mile. I feel your pain!!!
If you truly feel that way, I would sincerely appreciate your support with a "Like" on my Loud Motorcycles Suck - Facebook Community Page - Where daily, we expose loud biker thuggery. Thanks in advance...Rick Holtsclaw, Loud Motorcycles Suck - FB Community Page
I ride and I've decided that the rule of law is the answer, not a hedonistic, irresponsible loud "thug" biker with a personality disorder...you have NO right to decide what's legal when it comes to your exhaust mechanism...that's already been decided for you...just respect others, respect the law, care for the peace and safety of others...the universe does NOT revolve around you and you hedonistic desires.
