DroneDoctor talks safety on Flying near Fires to NBC Nightly News
Please don't fly anywhere near a fire while firefighters are trying to save property! The video I posted was shot with fire crews directing some of the action and ...
Congratulations on being on NBC. Hope one of these days I can get my
footage there. Btw I was the guy that talked to you about drones the night
of the fire. :)
It's not about drone it's the pilot. That's right doc, it's a tool just
like a knife. It can hurt people but we don't ban it. If they think it's a
gun then they could build a registration/license system on it. That's my
concern and we all don't want that to happen as we're just having a fun
with flying cameras :) Thanks Doc for your education!
+Daniel MacDonald stop harassing people and mind your own business. This video is so unrelated to the recent incidents in SoCal you look quite stupid questioning its existence. Section 333 Exemption?...I completely understand every boy scout wants to either put out a fire or start one but quoting FAA possible guidelines for a hobbies UAV flyer is quite senseless. Now I know the $75,000 bounty has you REALLY, REALLY excited and you want to be the knight in shining armor that makes the arrest. Not going to happen, Barking up the wrong tree. No one cares what influence this video has on the masses. 99.99% of the operators out there are responsible including Tony / Drone Doctor.
I have replied to you several times in the other posts you put in my other videos about why I did not give you all that information as it was suspicious of your motives and intentions........... We assumed that since you have "Thefireman" in all your youtube titles you were either a proud firefighter or a wannabe ....... but the calling you out part? No, you are just a person who wants to start trouble and we refuse to engage you in a back and forth of negative posts you seem to have a fascination with. We help others as much as we can and don't ask for anything in return yet you somehow seem to have a need to try and find fault in anyone's good deeds. My theory is you are trying to locate the bad drone operators whom are interfering with the fire fighting operations in California and trying to either collect the $75,000 bounty or to just "get your name in lights" to cause more stir to an already growing problem in our country. To that I answer you with, "sad." To answer all your silly questions would allow you to pester and prod people whom are my close friends and associates. So please go bother someone else on a blog as those who follow this youtube channel are here to learn and improve the hobby. Thank you for your time and I'm glad we somehow we were able to propel you to consume this much of YOUR busy schedule to watch all our educational videos so you can add your comments. Again, take care!
+Drone Doctor Wow, you are calling me out when all I asked was "What is the date and location of this wildfire?" I never claimed to be a firefighter, and you never answered the question.
+Remote Chief Thanks for the positive comments Chief. Take a look at my fire video if you would please and tell me what you honestly think. Getting so much negative stuff from people wanting to start negative threads on that topic, it's really sickening! There is one gent in particular Daniel MacDonald who calls himself a firefighter. I'm not so sure he really is because a real fire fighter has enough intelligence to see that video is HELPING not INTERFERING. It appears he is just a shit starter, but tell me what you think........ https://youtu.be/l-XD6Y3bCQY
Great video! I love photography and my quadcopter is a great tool and I
have my channel on YouTube to share my work but I think it's going to
happen we will need a licence to fly or a certificate to obey the rules. UK
government are looking to change the rules or give CAA more power.
+Shaun Matthews Sad when I get negative posts such as the man calling himself "Daniel The fireman" on the fire video trying to stir up trouble. The good that we try to do is always in question and many just try to stir up the pot.........
Great point kitestu, but new regulations on what the drones or transmitters would HAVE to be equipped with to be sold in the US would solve that. Many of the small drones or trainers really are no threat, it's the larger GoPro type camera carrying birds that cause these problems. It would mean only some of the best companies would be in the running to sell in the US but it would also keep a lot of the "junk" out of the sky. It's just one idea and I'm sure it will remain only that.......... an idea. Great post though and thanks for watching!
+Drone Doctor Its a great idea - but i don't think the GPS no fly zone maps are constantly updated in the onbord software of the drones we fly, so if a temporary zone is put in place for the duration of a fire or other event the drone would not be disabled. Unless the drones are wifi or 4g enabled and constantly updating it wouldn't work... sorry. Its still all going to be up to the human operators, and we know what that means... although having written the above its just occured to me (in hindsight) that the drone no fly zones could actually be triggered by a GPS signal? I don't know how they work, but if that were the case then your argument holds good.
+Shaun Matthews I think the GPS no fly zones being required on ALL drones sold in the UK and US would stop 90% of the problems. Think how easy this would be for emergency operations to activate a no-fly-zone over an area they are working by just adding it to a GPS program, simple. Wish someone would listen to me on this one............. Oops, there I go ranting on again...... thanks again as always Shaun, I value your comments and thanks for watching!!
