+Adolph Oliver Bush  I think he spent so much time playing fast that it probably actually felt a little awkward for him to play slow (slow for him).   That's my honest theory.  And again, my biggest gripe with Shawn (I went to his house in Memphis, TN and saw him live on maybe 2 occasions) is that he played TOO long in pedal-down mode.  If he would have just backed off on the TIME he played his full-on speed stuff... that would have made it sound even more amazing.  He also couldn't figure out how to STOP playing over his vocalist.  Other than that, he was pretty awesome and unique, to say the least.

YouTube guy Peter Swan is a leading authority on what is and isn't music, now? I have to ask, then, if the slower lines are music, but the faster one's are not... at what point does guitar playing go from being music to being "saw-machine shredding"? Is there a speed limit, or is it based on Peter Swan's opinions? I'm genuinely curious, because as a fan of Lane, I cannot possibly understand anything as far as music goes.Also, I may be a musical illiterate since I dig Lane's playing, but I can't say that I hear many similarities between Lane and Batio or Cooley. They all play very fast rock-based music with a distorted electric tone. Hell, that must mean Malmsteen and Holdsworth are pretty much the same. :)

There are many people in the wider audience who do not give a flying f*** for Charlie Christian, Joe Pass, Jaco P., Chick Corea, Eric Dolphy, P. De Lucia, Vicente Amigo, J.S. Bach, etc..... I would think most of the fans here are really into the guitar tech initially. Over time some begin look into overall musicality, while others stay fascinated by 'shred aspect'. It seems like the 'wider audience' (whatever that means/ mainstream maybe???) couldn't give a true fuck less about Jimi himself. Some of 'em take most art for granted in many ways. There are plenty peeps walking around right now who blindly hail Jimi as the abso. greatest and only great guitarist in the world, but prolly can't name 5 songs of his that aren't named 'Purple Haze'..... -___-  Fuck 'em   :PAs a young musician myself I have come to realize that there's more to music than just guitar tech, scales, theory, speed, etc. in fact I've found most 'normal people/average music fans' couldn't care less about that stuff, so i just figure now i should just do what i always intended to do: play music. Tech or lack thereof can both work to their own, but the the goal of playing guitar or any instrument is to play music. No matter style or genre. So now i feel like: fuck the rest, do your best and DO YOU. There are no limits to music, so as a musician why limit myself in any way? me, myself, and music. It's a never-ending journey, well until one passes ofc.  I think over time most other aspiring players realize that too.
