Classic Sesame Street - Cookie Monster Sleeps Over at Ernie's (HQ)
From Season 16, Cookie Monster has a sleepover at Ernie's apartment since Bert is out of town for the night. Only two problems have occured. One: Monster in ...
Unfortunately, ever since The Death of Jim Henson, except for at least a
couple of brand new segments I think both for Season 33, there really
weren't anymore Brand New Ernie and Cookie Monster Segments. That without a
doubt is a nightmare for Sesame Street Fans in which it's 100 times even
worse than Cookie Monster's.
Yes, I know he voiced both. This is an early segment so he was experimenting with the right voices. Early Grover's voice (when he was green) was deeper. So over time Grover's voice got higher and Cookie Monster's got deeper.
How could the telephone be ringing if the receiver is off the hook and
inside Cookie Monster? There's also another segment with Cookie Monster
with the telephone ringing and the receiver in Cookie's mouth but with
Kermit. "Me right. Telephone delicious." I also do remember there's a skit
from the Electric Company with Rita Moreno as Millie the helper with Bill
Crosby in the haunted house when the telephone is not even plugged in yet.
Put the P H one next to the P H onogra P H. P H il the P H otogra P H er.
+Alfred Kingon I vaguely remember the Electric Company skit you mentioned. Hopefully that also will get posted on YouTube; I have not seen that one since I was real little--40 plus years ago.

Classic Sesame Street - Cookie Monster as a Doctor

+Deltravis Williams I had a friend who's dad made him grow up way to fast. He wasn't allowed to watch Sesame Street @ 4. And his dad told him about Santa when he was 6. When he would visit he basically tried to run my life by telling me who I could & couldn't hangout with (including family) & would throw away personal belonging (dvd movies, pictures, books) if he didn't like them. I finally got tired of his crap & ended the friendship.
+Tau Bennett I think it's because Bert let Ernie keep an eye on things while Bert is out for the day.

I was convinced my uncle was Ernie's voice. Thanks to the person who posted
that this episode aired 12/22/69. I would have been 5 years old in
Kindergarten, so that tells me this memory must have occurred on Christmas
Eve at my grandma's house. My young uncle was 16, and his voice was already
deep. When I accused him of being Ernie, instead of denying it, he launched
into singing it for me! Apparently, this was a well known song at the time.
Alas, my uncle is gone too soon from cancer a few years back, but I
remember this like it was yesterday.
The song hit #1 in 1950 and is also sung in the first season of M*A*S*H by a group of Geisha Girls in Tokyo for Henry which is consistent with the year portrayed.
I noticed the Domino Sugar bag and the McCormick black pepper tin box! Ha! Ha! He's adding black pepper into a cake! Ha! Bet THAT tasted terrific! Wonder what other "plugs" there were in this clip! I put "plugs" in quotes because I don't think they were deliberately trying to plug anything. Or were they?......
Now that you mention it, I just saw it, myself, on the Domino mix bag. Wonder if that had had anything to do with the fact that Ernie seemed quite athletically inclined--football seemed to be his favorite. As I had said awhile back, they must have stopped airing this before I could remember--I did not remember this one at all.
