Ha-ha! Nice bikes, Wout. But do you think the CB1100RB is the best
comparison to the VF1000R? I mean, the 'C or 'D models have the TRAC
anti-dive and wider rims and 18" front wheel instead of 19" - Aren't you
giving away too much advantage to the VF with this comparison? When so much
of the '81 bike is CB900F running gear? It's as in Golf - playing with a
handicap?
I'm always amazed that the exterior design is able to use such obvious
swathes of gold, blue and red and still avoid looking ostentatious. It
really has stood the test of time. Even the top-end performance: it might
not accelerate quite as rapidly as a modern superbike with lighter
composite materials but give it a chance with a nice long stretch of road
and it will still impress.
Had one of these back in the day. Have fond memories of a trip to the Bol
Dor on it , the locals couldn't resist picking races with it on the road up
from the coast to the circuit , only the most determined of them could stay
with it !! Then I blasted back from Paul Ricard to Calais in one day !!
Great machine , wish I still had it.
Great bike - got an RD myself tho I don't use it much these days. What's
good is that it goes like hot sh*t and when you get to where you're going
people look at it more than most other bikes because it's so handsome/rare
- good combination.
