The Miata will be back at the Dragon this April, I'll get some better
footage, it's up about 60 wheel HP and 100 wheel tq from the last time it's
been there.
short clip of this nice little MX-5 miata powered by an incredibly clean LS3 Corvette Engine. Such a clean build I had to post the short clip of it that I had.
Danny George and Friends [DGAF] Episode 1 - Preparing for Long Beach
In this first episode of DGAF we get a behind the scenes view into Danny's 2014 6.9L LS3 Powered Mazda Miata. With only days until Long Beach the team is ...
I have tried it with the buffalo mc chicken. It is very good haha. And yes McDonalds has a double cheeseburger and a mcdouble, which is a bit smaller but still has 2 patties. Very good. I have also just taken the middle slice of bread out of a bigmac and put the mc chicken in the middle. It is amazing :)
+Austin Cannon McDonalds has double cheeseburgers??? Sorry I'm from Germany and our Maccas don't have them. So excuse me for being a dumbass... Or are you talking about a double cheeseburger from Burger King?
A 1996 Miata with a 480-hp LS3 installed inside. The car was built at Flyin' Miata (flyinmiata.com) and uses an all-new drivetrain with the LS3, a T56 ...
@zbarneyz It's ok, I should have been more descriptive. People who think
that Miata's are chick or gay cars generally know little about real racing.
Sexual orientation really has nothing to do with car choice. Elton John has
owned Ferraris and Aston Martins. Are those gay cars? I HIGHLY doubt any
"chick" would spend the money to drop a LS3 in a Miata unless she is really
into racing in which case that's my kinda chick!
@Bakeneko64 Mazda didn't put much power in the car for cost reasons, and
because they had the RX7 for that. It wasn't because the handling was poor.
People have been proving for years that the chassis can handle quite a bit
more power. We've raced these things in autocrosses, on the track and in
the Targa Newfoundland - and the chassis can definitely handle it.
That's really a question for Canadian customs - but I believe it's only the
parts that are subject to duty and tax. I'd have to check but the Targa
package is likely covered under NAFTA, so GST/PST/HST only. I suspect most
of our Canadian customers don't acknowledge the changes when they return,
although we will supply any required paperwork.
@MyOpinionMatterss Well....Okay, Im not sure about your sense of logic..
But, im pretty sure that IF it's a man that owns this car he is playing
atleast both ways...But i tend to stick to that he's gay...So, that would
mean that a heterosexual man would ''Embarrass!?'' himself driving this
car. Now. Im looking forward for your comeback ;PP
@LivinInFuture Definitely tested! It's about 52.5% on the front wheels, and
the cars still handle really well. On our local racetrack - a .9 mile kart
track with a dozen corners - the V8 cars are significantly faster than the
four-cylinder models. Given how tight that track is, it's a handling course
instead of a sheer power course.
@imreloadin2 All the prices are on our site. Generally speaking, it's about
$35,000 to have one built for you. If you do it yourself (which doesn't
require ANY custom parts, we can provide everything), you'll want to budget
somewhere between $15-$25,000 depending on what specification you choose
and if you use new or used GM parts.
Thank you for pointing that out. I really loathe the tendency of
manufacturers to underpower and overprice these types of vehicles. Don't
get me wrong.. I'm not expecting modded power levels but a Miata with a 200
hp.. maybe 250 horse turbo would be perfect out of the box and more
reflective of it's current pricing.
this is prob a silly question but what kinda of mpg do u get with a set-up
like this? i mean that v8 wouldnt have to work as hard to pull that car to
speed as it would in a much larger car sooo it can stay in lower rpms for
longer periods? i only ask cuz im considering doing this to a miata as a
daily driver too.
What are if any are the Canadian customs implications for bringing back a
car like this with all the mods done at your shop. A v8 swap is out of my
personal reach ,however the targa kit is well within, just wondering if the
border charges on the total cost including labor or just the sum of the
parts.
@XxUnknownxX8 I don't think any of our customers have tried a lot of snow
driving. Of course, you don't NEED to run full power at every opportunity,
so I'd say that with a good set of tires it should be no harder to drive
than any high-power car. Just behave yourself!
well if you utilize the corvette butterfly's on the miata idling around in
5th and 6th on the freeway they really wouldn't know but then again if you
have one you usually want it to be loud and most likely have wider tires
and a cage and some kind of aero
@zbarneyz Anyway, this LS3 miata was made to embarass any "hater" like you
who thinks exactly the way you think. How would you feel driving your brand
new Camaro SS or Shelby Mustang and get smoked by a Miata? That is exactly
how we want you to feel.
@XxUnknownxX8 You can price out a build on our website - they start at
around $34,000, and that gets you an all-new drivetrain with 480 hp.
Insurance is between you and your insurance company, I'd recommend an
agreed value policy.
@Mrgearhed The wheels are ASA AR1 in a 16" size. They're not the lightest
set out there but the car owner likes them. BBS makes a wheel that looks
almost identical and is 1.5 lbs lighter - but costs more than 5 times as
much.
any idea as to where to buy carpet for a 2001 miata? can an older model
carpet be used? has anyone replaced the carpet that can give me an idea how
to do? Also I need to replace my soft top and leather seats. Any ideas?
you can get a brand new GM Performance Parts LS1 350hp crate motor for
$5000 minus ecu and wiring. the LS376 (ls3) hot cam which is 480hp is
another $1500. hopefully bout to be doin a 240sx with one of these.
dual exhaust will look better hehehehe but it will add weight i guess!
anyway this car is a beast, light weight car with a big v8 with 480hp is
seriously fast... i bet that it's way faster than a stock c6 zo6
@sealsponge We like the Hard Dogs, we've dealt with them for years. I like
the fit better than most Autopowers - and for this customer, there's no
Autopower equivalent to the Deuce so it wasn't even an option.
@sealsponge Because the customer wanted the look of a double-hump bar. It
was the his choice. When we build yours, we'll put in whatever kind of
rollbar you want. But we won't put a style bar in for you.
How much does a complete swap like this cost typically if you have it done
at your shop? Also how much is it on average for all of the parts to do it
yourself (so price of everything minus labor)?
There are reinforcements along the frame rails as well as under the
fenders. The roll bar helps as well. We've built a race car with a similar
engine, and that one is caged and seam-welded.
LS3 Miata 400 hp dyno run
One of Flyin' Miata's V8-powered Miatas on the dyno. The car sports an unmodified E-ROD LS3 rated at 430 crank horsepower. This run was good for 399 hp ...
