Dear Eric,
As per your analysis above, an investor needs to wait for one month of rest
(in case of monthly chart) before investing in the stock at a level above
previous high. In such case suppose I observe all the parameters in the
stock are met, then on the day an investor decides to invest, should he/she
observe the daily charts also so that his entry point is correct? or should
the daily charts be ignored if he/she decides to follow monthly charts?
Because sometimes what happens is on monthly chart the stock meets the
requirement but after purchase of such stock, it corrects instead of
breaking out. I understand that stocks are volatile but is there an
additional precaution that can be taken to avoid correction?
[Question]... or should the daily charts be ignored if he/she decides to follow monthly charts? [Answer] Yes. Once you decide on monthly charts as the buy point (which is the ideal way to approach breakout situations) then you don't consider weekly or daily entry points since your point of reference is based on the monthly chart which typically gives you a lower/better entry level. Obviously, if the stock or trading instrument is to do well it does need to eventually move above weekly and daily buy points. Down the road you can reevaluate the health of the stock as it attacks weekly buy points and daily buy points charts.Great stocks or markets should be able to take out almost any resistance while weak stocks/markets/instruments normally struggle to hold above buy points.
