First of all, I love this movement, and want to contribute more. I don't think either side is properly stating uncertainties around investment portfolios. It seems there are two camps: 1) Some say, absolutely, that the exclusion of any one sector is bad for a large portfolio, regardless of what it is, and they use this reason against divestment. 2) Some say that inclusion of fossil fuel (coal, oil, gas) is bad for portfolio, due to carbon price risk, stranded assets, etc. and they use this reason for divestment. I don't think either camp can ever say absolutely (i.e. with 100% uncertainty) that their answer is the right one. For instance, one could imagine a scenario where governments continue to postpone action on climate change (so there is no increased 'carbon risk'), and we end up living in a fossil fuel economy for the foreseeable future, and therefore a fossil fuel portfolio would still perform well. This awful scenario has a probability, however small it is. But neither camp is putting uncertainty bands around their statements (to my knowledge), and I think we should move to do that, to quantify things more clearly, even if it's just our best guess at this point. What are your thoughts on that? (note: this focuses purely on financial arguments, and not moral ones)

Half the warming in the past 150 years happened in the past 50 years and was caused by man, but the other half of the warming before that was cause by...??? How do you say "warming has stopped, but it hasn't cooled much either?" without letting on that warming has stopped? You say: "hottest decade on record." The missing atmospheric warming for the past 17 years is in the oceans? If it is it will stay there - 2nd law of thermodynamics. But 1) there is no evidence for that, 2) the models had predicted atmospheric warming. Temperature data does not by itself predict warming. The models (upon which the alarm is based) are what predicted more warming, and they failed at that. Predictions of catastrophe from a few degree temperature rise is pure speculation. "outside the safe zone by mid century:" pure speculation. Smug pieces like this, by being obviously unscientific, weaken the credibility of climate science.
