looks exactly like my car I had in 1974 in high school. Mine had a 440
magnum with an automatic but I do not remember the split in the front
grill. Mine was same exact colors in and out and I sold it for a measly 600
dollars! Dumb!
Hi Gateway....without sounding really anal about the car it has a 66 coronet grille and 66 Coronet front bumper. It would be nice if you could locate the correct parts that are missing as it would make the car a lot more valuable if it's a real R/T.
+jaggerzee check out the april issue of muscle machines by hemmings. There is a great story about a guy 19 years old in 1968 who bought a 68 coronet r/t and his dad talked him out of spending the extra 600 dollars for the hemi and he got the 440 instead. The car is white with a black vinyl top and red interior. Funny combination. Yes my car is very fast puts out 470 horsepower. With the 6-speed it gets up and moves. I drove down to Arizona and saw a couple of white new challengers and 1 old white one driving in the desert. loved that movie enjoy your classic coronets! take care
I think you have plenty of power with the 392.My Ram 1500 has a 348 hp 5.7L Hemi and there's plenty of power in it so your car has to be very quick.I have a friend that has a 2010? white Challenger and his plates read "vanishing point" like the movie. There's still lots of snow on the ground up where I am so I won't be able to cruise for another few months at least.Have a great day Don Dressel.
+jaggerzee Thanks for your reply and comment about my new challenger. But if I was to do it again I would have bought an old classic 1st then bought a new one. My challenger has a 392 hemi but I wish I had ordered a 426 hemi instead.I think there is way to much plastic and electronics in these new cars and I still love old school better. I originally ordered a ZL-1 camaro but got tired of being screwed with so I test drove my challenger and liked the ride better. I cant even work on the new car but I have taken a torqflite tranny out of my 67 coronet r/t when I had it and it was the heaviest tranny ever. Enjoy your coronets I wish I still had mine!
The 66 was an original 383 car but I put in a new 440 engine crate engine although the 66 coronet never had the 440 engine option. This car is more of a hot rod than a correct car.The 67 R/T has the 440 also but would have been really nice if it was a Hemi car.Congrats on the Challenger they're beautiful looking cars even though they're newer vehicles.
+jaggerzee What do you have under the hood of these cars? I read an article in this months hemming magazine that a guy that was 16 in 1968 bought a 68 coronet r/t but his dad talked him out of paying extra for the hemi because it was 600 dollars more so he got the 440 instead. Big money mistake buy at least he still has it. I did buy a 2012 challenger srt8 and never will sell it even though my wife hates it!
+jaggerzee Great good for you do you still have both cars? I have sold about 7 cars that were great 69 camaro 67 coronet r/t 2 55 chevy's a 56 chevy 65 impala ss and a nice little 64 vw. I had no insight into the future.
