what's sad is that the DC government has not done anything to promote or give Chinese businesses any incentive to develop in the area. it's as if the entire area has been sold to developers. i can appreciate the development of the previously depressed area into a vibrant commercial strip, but to neglect the cultural history of the area is a shame. just because Hooters, Verizon Center, Urban Outfitters, Starbucks, etc signs all have chinese characters on them does not make it "chinatown."
