Norton Antivirus 2011 2012 Full Set Serial Key COOL UPDATE 02 NOVEMBER 2011
"Windows Service Centre" phone call scam.
3 older people I know have fallen victim to this "windows service centre" scam. More told me they'd been phoned. I really wanted to do something more to warn ...
I asked to be added to their no-call list. The analyst said their was not
such thing. I asked to speak to his supervisor. I again asked to be added
to their no-call list and he said their was none. I explained that he is
contacting me for a business purpose that I did not request, that he is not
my mother, father or a known family friend. I asked him to explain how his
firm could not have a no-call list? The "manager" hung up.
No legitimate IT firm incorporated in the USA nor allowed to call US
citizens even from international locations is allowed to call US citizens
without having a no call list. Any firm that does not know that is illegal
for them to do this, cannot fail to be a scam firm. Any firm that does not
honor a no-call request cannot fail to be knowing violating US unsolicited
business law and subject to fines by the US Department of Commerce.
Consider capturing the name, calling phone number and business contact
information so that you can launch a valid legal complaint against such a
firm.
Just as you would not put a stranger in charge of a cash register and
expect not to be robbed. You must never put a stranger in charge of your
computer and expect not to be harmed.
they also called me and asked if my windows computer is running...my
computer hung up directly that´s why i got safed :D
they asked me to do the same things like in the video i directly started
getting suspicious, hung up the phone ,googled it and easily found out that
it´s a scam while doing this they didn´t stop calling for the whole time
after i found out i just got angry and told them that they´re scammer and
to never call me again...till now it worked and everything is fine with my
computer
Hahaha I got a call from these ppl today. I started asking questions
immediately and when I asked him from where he was calling he said Canada
and that the swedish service center had been outsourced to canada lol.
Generally when you outsource a serive center, you still have support in the
right language so at this point he asked me to turn my computer on and I
just said "yeeaaaaaah,...I'm not gonna do that because I don't think you
are who you say you are" and he hung up before I got cussing :)
Today I got this call, it's the 3rd time it's happened to me. It's worrying
because they knew my surname was Jones, but I just pretended to carry on
with what they told me to do. I spent a little over 7 minutes pretending to
go along with it. After a while I said "Look I know this is a scam, I know
you're a hacker" the woman on the other end said "No, you're the hacker,
this is bull-shit" I said I hoped she'd have a good day and hung up. I'm
starting to enjoy these calls just to annoy them :P
DONT LET THEM REMOTE IN!!! They just called me & got so frustrated with all
my questions, they hung up. I called another number to find out what the
risk was to turn on the computer, this guy said that because they had my
phone number and I turned on the computer they had my IP address. He
offered to remote in and fix it. FUNNY!!! I declined, then called my local
PC fixit guys 4th Dimension Computers, Lacey Wa, and he assured me that my
Windows Firewall protected me. DONT LET THEM REMOTE IN!!!
I too recieved a phone call exactly like the one in the above youtube video
today. They were convincing at first, especially when they recited my
computer's id over the phone. I don't know how they got it but they also
had my name and cell phone # too. They insisted my computer would crash
tonight and I would have to buy a new one if I didn't "renew" my license
for $250 and allow them to access my computer remotely to repair damage
done by increasing errors downloaded from the internet.
They just tried this on with me. i asked him for details like name,
official title, time with Microsoft, credentials, location, etc. He
answered like a practiced short scammer until I asked to talk to a manager.
He seemed to transfer to a fella with a strange Australian accent that kept
breaking into Indian. Pretty comical. He asked me to connect, I told him he
was running a scam, and he lost composure. Call over. What a shameless
suck. Must be so desperate to have so little conscience.
I just received a call from the same people. They called before but my
sister talked to them and didn't believe, as she shouldn't have. But when
they called I asked why they were calling AFTER 9:30pm and how they
received my number. They couldn't give GOOD enough reasons, and I asked for
their number and looked it up on the internet and this video popped up. So
I called them scammers, idiots and told them their "business" was BS. The
man told me he was going to block my computer lol K
I've just been phoned by Asian fella who said my pc had been hacked & that
the hacker had been using my details. I was called last year too ~ dialogue
exactly as yours. Didn't trust the phone call, but kept him goin for about
30mins. The thing was, because I said I didn't trust him, he said HE would
tell ME stuff about my pc to prove he was genuine.. And he did. .. HE told
ME what my IP address was !! And he was correct. This has worried me ever
since. How can he have my IP address ??
I got a call today from the number 0016309339463, claiming he was from
Microsoft Service Center (sounding spanish, a bit indian, talking english)
and that a hacker was attacking my computer right now. I told him "This is
Frank Norman from the FBI, your phone number is being traced and we have
your current location. Do not leave the building, we will arrest you and
confiscate all stuff as it is now a crime scene you're calling from. You
have the right to-" And then he hung up hahahaha
I was just called by these people. I wanted to make sure it was a scam
before hanging up because coincidentally, I had just been using customer
support online and wanted to make sure the call was not connected to that
incident. Anyway, I kept asking a bunch of questions until eventually THEY
hung up! Haha! Then I knew it was a scam...question answered! It sounded
just like in this video. Scary that this is happening. Someone who doesn't
know better could easily fall prey to this.
These guys called me once and said my Windows computer has a virus and blah
blah (didn't understand because of his accent). I knew it was a scam when
he said that because he told me he was watching the desktop on my windows
computer. (I use Crunch Bang Linux always) I started LOLing so hard he
asked me why I was laughing. Then I told him. "I'm a linux guy you dumb
shit, I'm using Crunch Bang right now". Then he hung up. Oh btw this scam
came to Canada (where I am)
I got this call today, started to suspect something right away, especially
with all the background noise. A 'real' support call wouldn't be in such a
noisy area I think. So I just hung up. My question is, how did they get my
phone number? Have they already gotten a virus on my computer that sent
them my contact information? Doesn't sound right, but I figured I should
ask anyway. Should I do anything now, or just ignore the whole thing?
sorry to hear that. If you contact your bank or card company immediately,
you may be able to stop the payment. Ask your bank's advice on changing
your card details as a precaution. Did they get as far as connecting to
your computer remotely (-you would notice activity on your screen)? If so,
take it to a computer repair shop for advice. To be completely safe, your
data needs to be backed up, hard drive wiped & everything reinstalled.
i got one of these calls today...they didn't get very far because i knew
that if it was lagit, they would have known what operating system i was on.
they told me to click on my computer on the desktop, i'm using window7, and
my computer, by default, is not on the desktop. i told him off and hung up.
he called me back and called me an idiot. obviously not a real tech support
person, because that would get him fired.
I just received this same phone call. I asked her to identify herself as a
"Windows" representative. She told me she would give me the computer
license number and then I could compare it against the one in my computer.
I went through that process and the number she gave me did match. I still
didn't trust the caller and told her I wouldn't go any futher with her. But
how did she get my computer license number?
My parents were hacked by these scammers. They had to call Avongate.com at
650-963-5701 in order to dispute the charge. They first called the Credit
Card company who gave them this info. But I dont think they will reverse
the charge of $99.00. So I told my dad he may need to call teh CC company
back to dispute it. I cant believe my Dad fell for this....These scammers
need to be stopped.
Had 2 calls in last 4 days but fortunately seen something on TV about this
so told the first one I didn't believe a word he was saying and put the
phone down. The second - a woman - rang at 07.49 after I have had minimal
sleep for 4 nights due to a poorly child. I literally said "ITS TEN TO
EIGHT IN THE MORNING". Both calls had number withheld. How do these people
sleep at night.....
This recently happened to me, but i hung up on him cuz i immediately knew
no one from Microsoft would ever call me, especially introducing themselves
as "Windows Service Center." In the first few seconds it screamed scam to
me, but i ran a search anyway on the phrase to see if others have
experienced this. Kudos for making this video, man. Just tweeted it to
spread the word.
Just had one today - saying was from my Bband provider... I let them go
through all this rigmarol and then said - OK not going to do this as don't
think you are really calling from my Bband provider - he got bad tempered
and started spouting my account nos... then I said I have no idea if that
is my account nos and he hung up... the tel nos listed 0079554 ???
How To Scan A Flash Drive or External Harddrive For Viruses with Bitdefender Antivirus

I suggest you scan every flash drive, external harddrive, or home made CD
that comes in contact with your personal computer, office PC or network.
Viruses and other malware are rapidly adapting to peoples personal and
business habits, and virus writers are not after money more and more, so
security threats are often times aimed directly at your pocket book.
@jazwil3 Yes, go to My Computer, or Computer, in the start menu, and left
click on it. Once it opens, look for the external drive, and right click on
it. Scan with AVG Antivirus should appear and you can left click on it.
