This '07 Jeep Rubicon JK is treated to a MBRP exhaust, K&N Intake, and a Superchips TrailDash. Hear the difference between stock and with these upgrades.
+Scott Ryman Exactly. Put an intake on a 92 corvette and you get like 20hp. Put it on new focus RS and you probably don't get squat. All 3 cars I have owned that I modded (95 240sx, 2006 Honda accord and a 2005 s2000) all had small but notable gains from AEM intakes. Most OEM intakes try to keep the sound to a minimal so aftermarket intakes usually do make a difference.
+rtf709 MightyCarMods did a video where they tried several intake options on a small economy car, then a Skyline with an RB25. Both cars had pretty efficient stock intakes, so no real gains were made. OTOH, they tried an AEM intake vs. stock vs. stock with no filter on an S2000, and found the AEM system made more power every time over the stock systems.I guess what I'm saying is, it depends on the car and the engine. Some cars benefit from them, others don't.
+rtf709 anything without a tune will pretty much do nothing. but a good intake system with a tune will make a good change because now the vehicles computer knows its taking in more air.
