They definitely do that. I know plenty of Estate sellers that salt a sale
with their own stuff & stuff that is left over from other sales. Anyway,
I've done consignment before. The real trick is figuring out what they buy
at the store you are planning to consign at. I did really well a while back
at this one place where the customers were buying ornate lighting &
chandeliers. The only real problem with consigning is losing track of what
you've consigned. That's why I'm doing a video record. :-)
This is where I think estate sale owners would have it made, they can take
their own personal items and throw things like this into an old estate and
ask high prices and get people to snap them up. I see people buying stuff
like this all the time at estate sales getting caught in the moment.
Interested to see how the consignment store works out, I have many similar
type items and maybe some jewelry I would consign and be happy with half
those super high prices you see in those stores.
Where I am everything is expensive. I live near Manhattan. I've actually
sold in the Manhattan market, but it's such a pain now ( parking, high cost
of set up, small spaces ) that it personally not worth me doing. I figure
trying Consignment is a good bet for moving stuff that is filling up my
garage. :-)
Consignment shops are a great idea! Your very nice items should do well in
that venue.

Does anyone have a clue if silver will go down or up in case of Greek
default?
I'm thinking if Greece goes bankrupt the dollar will get stronger and
silver will go down.
Any thoughts on that?
If greece does default liquidate is all people care about. Which Is Like 2008 AND 2009 when EVERTHING fell including THE metals. the metals are highly liquid and are sold first to meet debt obligations
