I do it all the time. There are lots of artist I love as people but I think their work sucks and some who are assholes whose work I love. I rarely find the art is the person.

I still don't understand this argument at all. Why should your dislike of a person affect the work they have created or helped create? One is a person, and the other is the fruit of their labor. They're just different things. There is no reason why you shouldn't be able to enjoy the work of Mel Gibson, Bill Cosby, Roman Polanski, Woody Allen, Orson Scott Card, Tom Cruise, Richard Wagner, or whatever other name is generally thrown out in these conversations. The only thing that matters is whether or not the work is good. Work of art =/= creator. That's it.
