Large purchases can often be very difficult to make. Is there a reason humans are so bad at shopping. Trace explains how your emotions could get in the way of ...
Take out the "we're all" part. This doesn't apply to me. I buy things that
I need or want for a good reason. That is all. Buyers remorse doesn't
happen to me. I am always happy with my purchases, unless of course, there
turns out to be something wrong with the item, but that is a different
issue.
Seriously im always rational when i buy. Not only that i get exactly what i am looking for if i dont see it i dont get anything. If i have a chance to try it out i try n if i dont like it i return it and if i like it and decide to keep it i return it and get it again but new. I also dont let anybody sell me more than what i am buying. I dont care if anybody else thinks that the number is right if its not my preference please stop pushing me to buy it. I weigh the options accordingly to my life. I am a patient person n a rational person and mind set towards the things i want n things i need. If i can i will always try finding a better price and or deal. Overtime i know i will find it n if i dont then it just means that i really dont need it. Its simple as that.
I buy everything on credit card. I have 90 days to return anything, and if the vendor says no, then my credit card company will cover it.I also have 90 days price protection, where they'll cover any price drops I send them an ad for, and also 90 purchase protection, where they'll cover damage including accidental, and theft. It makes buyers remorse a lot harder.
Buyer's remorse doesn't happen to me either. I make my purchases carefully, sometimes too carefully. I don't make impulse purchases on anything that costs more than probably $5 and only when I can fully rationalize it.
I felt the same when when me and my mom went to futureshop, we seen a
curved 4k samsung tv and we felt we needed it, but we didn't have the money
so we didn't fall for the trap
This video should have a disclaimer that it only applies to women. I, for
one, enter a store, walk straight to what I know I need, buy it, and leave
the store.
There are just as many men as women who make impulse and/or emotionally bias guided decisions - used or new cars, power tools, electronics anyone. Don't let 'em fool you ladies. ;-)
I do the same and I'm a woman. So it obviously doesn't apply to all women.I browse a lot when I shop with my sisters, but I only buy what I know I need.If I don't need it I flat out don't buy it.
I'm a women and I'm the same, I hate going shopping unless I know what I want. I want to get in and get out. What puts me in a terrible mood is shopping with someone who wants to go window shopping in every store... It drives me crazy! XD
You kinda missed the point where he said after 23 minutes our logical thinking about shopping turns off. If you go in and out of the store with a purpose that doesn't take much more than 20 minutes. What do your shopping habits at the mall look like when you've been there an hour or just half an hour? And how are we supposed to consciously supposed to monitor our logical thinking. We are subconsciously bias all the time
I don't believe your shopping decisions are all based on what you wanted to buy. Companies, supermarkets and shops are really good at placing the products so that you want to buy them. For example, you will buy the more expensive products in a supermarket because they are at your eye level. It a principle the can be applied to everyone, whether you recognise it, or not.
I'm a woman and I do exactly that. But that doesn't mean that there aren't any man that love spending hours shopping (which for me is borring, I can't take more than half an hour shopping)
You do realize that just because you're a guy who does that, doesn't mean that only men can, right? There's plenty of girls that I know who will go into a store, and won't even get anything. They'll just look around for a bit, and unless it's something they actually need, they don't get it. I can admit that for me, if it's something that I can afford, even if I know that I won't need it later on, I still buy things. Therefore your idea for a disclaimer that it only applies to women, would be a bad idea, because it doesn't just apply to them.
Me too! I happen not to be a man! I'm also a girly girl, however, I research before buy, I hate looking around in a store, I like knowing exactly what I want and knowing I'm getting the best price, which I believe is an even better way to go about it - Disclaimer that applies only to women, lol
