That wasa con! I knew someone who did this. He owned a shitty lil storage place and ever so often when a unit would be forfeit they would go thru it clean the stuff out tey wanted then stuff the rest in empty units. Then they called a guy who did just what yu do and they scammed him. Others have pointed this out I know but I spoke to the guy cause I grew up with him and he gave me a unit for free. I couldn't keep up with it and told him to just sell what was in it to make up for the loss (furnature mostly) and that's when he told me about all this stuff hehad done. Sucks that some do that when others are okay this guy I knew was a scumbag when he was in school too.
