AMC 287, carb swap off AMC 327
Took off the old small throat 2 bbl holley approx 250 cfm And running The 2 bbl off My 60 Ambassador 327 (it now has a 4 bbl) about a extra 100 cfm The bigger ...
+Peter Fox That sounds about right. There isn't really any reason to go up to a 600 cfm carb unless you put in a more aggressive cam and bigger valves/fabricate headers. Plenty of other bottlenecks that I doubt I'd notice an improvement.
+linglingjr the factory 4bbl on a 327 should be around a 450 cfm holley old one but still holley.. 600 should not be a prob.. mine have had fiddling cause they have been 2bbl to 4bbl conversions.
+linglingjr Gday, you may get 2 answers, lol, this my 2nd try.,,,, i have a 60 Ambassador 327 i put a 600 on it, but it has electric Kick down, no prob..only 65 66 (in australia) have Cable Kick D,, its just a bit of adjusting,, many years ago i had 65 287 with a 465 holley all good.,,, this 65 here i have now got a new 350 on it even for that i attached a piece of metal for a bracket. , you may have to move the cable mount around a little on the 4bbl intake, and the end of the cable should screw in and out for your finer adjustment,, full throttle it should be full on. try to attach kick down to carby so it has a long amount of travel from start to end. helps for smooth gear change... look at the placement of the cable where it is now on the 2bbl, take a pic. and try and mount the same with the 4bbl. bit of fiddling but worth it...i would change to 4bbl but manifolds very hard to find here.
