+MrSweatyPants well yes i know what age students are... im saying that interviewer isnt very good... granted he might be inexperienced but if his a student of journalism, which would make sense in this context, he should have follow up question mapped out better, instead of just shrugging off deep meaningful answers like a uppity teenager.... i think my critisim here was justified...
+Kalle Saarinen Yeh, people that attend Oxford University are usually between the ages of 18-21, funny huh? Wotcha want? Jonathan Ross? Let me explain to you what is boldly obvious to anyone with any intelligence. What makes the Oxford Union unique is experienced guests speaking to a predominantly, intelligent but naive audience. I feel like I'm teaching a granny to suck eggs here?
As an actor his conversation does not 'flow' very well. He certainly wasn't
too helpful towards the interviewer. I have found this with many 'so
called' famous actors. Misses the prompting of a script perhaps?
+wil rees brilliant!!! lolllllllll! What uni was that?!! and year? Mine was practically non existent cos I went to the worse ranking polytechnic ever!!
Interesting that on the question of unfairness and women in Hollywood,
Freeman raps off a list of woman but wasn't able to see the see (hear) the
elephant in industry. None of the women he listed were African descent.
+lostbrother1979 Yeah he does tend to somehow avoid lengthy discussions or debates along racial lines in Hollywood. Technically he did address it by saying Hollywood is a business and not some college class on ethics, so it has no obligation to address social equality or social justice. It's the same argument you see made about 'pay equality'. Feminist would argue that women are paid less than men but they will not address clear evidence is pay gender bias in markets that favor women (e.g. modeling, porn, medical industry). The counter-argument is that pay is based more so on merit (your performance) and market ((re)investment based on expected consumer use). On those grounds you wouldn't pay a women or man more or less than the other based solely on their gender unless market required it (using the previous examples of porn and modeling).Freeman's response was a bit of a cop-out Hollywood has not only been used as a tool to address social issues but it is also one of the worst offenders of playing into racial stereotypes and propaganda. Market sales and Nielsen ratings have already proven that racially diverse and fiction-based films and shows do better than pre-1990's standard of the angst of Anglo white male. I won't go so far as to call Morgan Freeman a bridge-burner but he definitely finds ways of tap dancing the tougher questions like limited roles for POC just starting out in acting.
