Sorry, but none of you are actual mechanics. I have been a mechanic for a
little while now both indy shop and dealer. doing oil changes. Shouldn't
take you an hour to do it if that's all your doing. Max is 10 minutes. For
a technician to do it about 20 minutes and that is including a visual
inspection of the vehicle, like how your tires are doing, your brake pads,
sometimes you do need a new filter, topping up fluids, checking them to see
if they need to be changed out and an over all health report. Now it should
take a tech that's doing a LOFR about 25-30 minutes since they are also
rotating the tires too. Also the whole reason behind the oil change is that
over time the oil get's contaminated over time with carbon build up from
the combustion process, micro sized particles of metal from the engine and
other things too. It get's gunk ed up and eventually if it's never changed
out it will cause the engine to size and you will need a new engine.
