John, I'd like to drive out there - did you have to get landowner
permission? If so, who did you contact? I was out that way last week and
saw the Columbia Trail marked as a private road - several private road
signs with one saying, "This is NOT a BLM road."
+Alan Roden Alan, I've heard that mining activity near Columbia has significantly increased since I was there. Hence, access to the area may be more restricted now. Send me a message and I can add more detail. John Kindle
That would be the very rare case. In general, 'ghost towns' refer to communities that have been abandoned but still exhibit some trace of the once vibrant town that used to to be there.

Agua Caliente ghost town, Maricopa County, AZ
Exploring the ghost town of Agua Caliente, on the Gila River, in the Sonoran Desert of far southwestern Maricopa County, AZ, about 35 miles west of Gila Bend.
+Harold Place There's what looks like an old motel, just over the pass, north of Agua Caliente. The buildings are wood, and starting to break down ( //hikearizona.com/photo.php?ZIP=482082 ), but the whole property is fenced off with "No Trespassing" signs, and someone is living there in a trailer, so I thought it wise not to intrude. Just west of Hyder, maybe a mile, is the foundations for what looks like an old gas station and, possibly, motor court. (No motel foundation, but definitely an old swimming pool.) There's pictures here: //hikearizona.com/photoset.php?ID=34273 . Are the "Mormon Mounds" anything to do with the Oatman Massacre? I'm headed to check that out next week ...
moved to a little spot off to the south east a couple of miles in '86 then went to work in the grapes and citrus of Hyder ranch to the north east.. went through the "ol A C" pass lots of times as a shortcut/site seeing trip with the wife :) up around the hills with the little shacks that use to be where the springs that were so popular once abounded.Seems there was an old hotel in the side of one of the hills. There was a junk yard/bar at the north end of the trail where it runs into Palomas/Hyder rd. close to the Butterfield station that was there.
+Harold Place Wow, small world! Did you live in the (now) fallen down cottages, or up "in town" (a mile or so north)?

Thanks for the video. Always nice to relive memories. I grew up in Phoenix,
and on weekends, worked in the Ghost town as a kid. From age 12 to 14 I
would spend the weekends there with a gentleman named Dick. I can't
remember his last name. But he'd pick up me and my cousin and take us up
there to work at the Trading Post.
And feeding the animals that were there on the property.
I have many fond memories of Bumble Bee. It was much different then.
All the buildings were intact at that time. I stayed in the 1st house of
those they show in a line at 2:23 mins. into the video. Fond memories to
say the least. THANK YOU AGAIN.
Sadly, in the last few years, the wooden ruins shown here have all been
razed to the ground. What remains at Bumble Bee is the actual town
buildings, not the faux ruins.
