+TheVJProduction Maybe at slow speed you could handle the opposite steering. At higher speeds the AWS system on the VR-4 essentially preloads the rear tires to get them closer to the optimum slip angle for the rear tires earlier for maximum grip. If it steered them the opposite way the car would oversteer in an unpredictable manner.
How so? All four wheels are unloaded and spinning the same speed. Any damage that would occur would be if either the front or the back are on the ground while the other pair aren't. It's only damaging because the driveline is a stupid design. Any long-term speed differential between the front and rear roasts the one bearing of the center differential. They have no ability to handle an axial load, only radial, due to no thrust bearings of any kind being present.
