Decline of the family, ultra-low birthrate, feminism, gay rights...Confucianism is ill-equipped to handle any of these issues. Let's hope the Neo-Confucian movement (an invention of Westerners, anyway) disappears quickly and permanently.

Because it wasn't supposed to happen. If they were to follow Confucianism, surely some of this may disappears especially Feminism and LGBT Rights Movement. These two are actually the so called "good" extremists. Sure it is good that you have passion for everything, but if your passion interrupt someone's passion as well, then I suppose it's better for you to compromise or conflicts would occur. Confucianism basically tells you to compromise, and take a little bit of both from both sides.
