I will admit that it is pretty cool, but when I saw it in person all I
could think of was all that gold to make something for worship, while the
people it is supposed to represent starve.
Yet another reason I am good without religion.
+SlayerofFiction 2000 years ago Judas Iscariot said the same thing. Mary then took a pound of very costly perfume of pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped His feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. 4But Judas Iscariot, one of His disciples, who was intending to betray Him, said, 5"Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and given to poor people?"…
+SlayerofFictionI don't think the Church is a major contributor to poverty and starvation.A golden toilet would have been made by a single person or otherwise only a single person would have truly benefited from the sale of a golden toilet.
+John Smith As if you could not say anything dumber you come up with this" I don't believe the Church is any major player in poverty and starvation. "The toilet was built by someone, probably multiple people, soooooooo there is a market, people earn money and feed their families, fucking rocket science.
+SlayerofFictionMoney could just as easily be represented in the form of printed notes, as is the case in all countries that I'm aware of.I don't believe the Church is any major player in poverty and starvation. I'd rather them use gold to make beautiful cathedrals than the Capitalist class store it away in vaults. The level of decadence exercised on a regular basis by the owning class and their families dwarfs anything the church has done. Tell me when the pope starts eating gold-encrusted $1,000 deserts or puts a gilded toilet in his bathroom.
+John Smith Which requires, get this, payment which is OMG, money. The church specifically used gold to show its wealth and power. Care to guess who was not getting what they asked? But who wants more?
When did I say money does nothing?I was saying that a system that creates a more even distribution of money (and therefore goods and services) is what solves poverty and hunger.
+SlayerofFictionI know that gold was used as a currency, but it has no intrinsic value of its own. Handing out gold would do nothing, as it would be out of the poor people's hands as soon as it was given to them. You change the system itself, you don't rely on the magical properties of gold to solve all hunger. Gold doesn't make more food or evenly distribute it evenly. It's just a metal. And I find it hilarious that you think voting does anything. Maybe your country has a better electoral system, but here in the United States the vote almost literally means nothing.
+John Smith History, quick lesson for you.For centuries people merely traded goods, since not everyone could be a farmer or a hunter they would trade X amount of goods to eat. Various forms of payment was used over the centuries with metal coins soon becoming hte representation.Soon gold would set a standard since it never decomposed and thus it would have a similar recognized value wherever it went, as previously one kingdoms coins would be worthless in anothers. That coinage is used to represent the number of goods you would have at one time traded. Thus allowing you to eat. Now I ask you to do two things, one do not vote, and two, please under no circumstances reproduce. Thank you
Why do you think gold has anything to do with feeding people?Because it's valuable? Because some people see it as a form of money? All the gold in the world isn't going to feed the poor beyond giving them some limited purchasing power, which would immediately go away when the massive inflation hit.The way to solve starvation is to set up a system of production and distribution of goods and services, including food, that prevents starvation, not give poor people a one-time insertion of cash that's gone tomorrow. "Give a man a fish, and he has food for a day. Teach a man to fish and he has food for the rest of his life."
The construction and makeup of a building have nothing to do with people starving. People starving has more to do with the production and distribution of food. You can't feed people with gold.
Talking Heads - Live in Rome 1980 - 07 Crosseyed & Painless
Live TV Concert Footage of The Talking Heads Featuring King Crimson's Adrien Belew............ Phew! Can This Guy Play! Check Out His AWESOME Guitar ...
+clothalex Its an extremely accurate harmonic hit. You can move harmonics around if you fret notes on the lower frets. Usually you can do an easy harmonics on the 5th, 7th, and 12th fret.... but if you finger a note on the first fret now you can get easy harmonics on the 6th, 8th, and 13th frets and so on and so fourth.
I'm sure I'll take hate for this but I think the band sounds better without
Adrian Belew. Too busy for me and too many noises. And watching alotta live
stuff he's constantly playing over Byrne. The stop making sense version of
this song is amazing. That whole film was.
+lokijam - No hate, but what I love about this is the "business", funny, I always called it "nuanced", there are lots of subtle "noises" but I found, especially listening with headphones, it was like discovering another plane of existence. To me it added so much, and even Belew's guitar playing, he has a distinctive unique style that they wouldn't have had with any other supporting guitarist in my opinion. Stop making sense was great too......I thought maybe it had gotten a little keyboard heavy and "poppier" by then, but still great......That's just my opinion. :-)
I always prefer the live versions of Crosseyed & Painless to the Remain in
Light version because of the funky intro. Such a strong P-Funk vibe to this
version.
Adrien Belew was made to play with TH, in that time, in that time. Way,
whoa, way, ahead of its time, thank you, Byrne & Belew. What a Freaking
pair. I can say, with no doubt -- if I could see them together again, I'd
travel to do it. This re'union NEEDS to happen!! !! God I miss, Talking
Heads. THE Best part of the 70-80's in alt/new wave/ wutta ever you wanna
call it. And I ain't talking about the popular, "And She Was" radio-hit
BS.
+SuperSparrow45 Frank Zappa had Belew in is band before crimson i think belew was on The White Album too, oh wait no thats right, adrien wrote a song called Big Blue Sun that was influenced by Martha My Dear from the white album
