Sorry it took so long to get this up and I apologize for the video quality. The good camera I was using was borrowed out and I haven't gotten it back yet. I would ...
I lost all the power locks in my van.... Switched the driver's door switch
for one from a wrecker.... Never had the issue again. Gm ties everything
together so that when you lose one thing, you lose it all... May not be the
solution to your problem, but I thought I'd mention it.... Maybe it'll help
:) I have a few other ideas where you may want to look as well, if this
doesn't help.... Best of luck figuring it all out man.
Well that's ok bah; at least ya tried buddy; yea unfortunately sometimes
gm, etc; "tie" other things in with something else to try and make it more
simplified; but in the end sometimes that just compounds the problem(s)
even further as far as the fuses and relays go, etc....good video man :)
hey thanks man, i checked the fuses under the hood and there was no fuse
there at all but there was one in the spare beside it so i swtiched it so
my horn is working now but my door locks and trunk realse still dosent but
thanks for the vidoeo
That's a good demonstration of the TV bushing...I just got a '91 Grand
Marquis which has the plastic bushing but the TV cable is still
attached...I've ordered several of the brass bushings to do this car plus
my Lincoln and other Grand Marquis.
would you no why my 87 crown vic revs so hi when it does it comes and go's
and it will make a sucking sound it happens every othr day i put a new iac
and got the egr valve clean and i still does it
This video, taken from Buick's Know-how Series (KH-111), has guest host pro driver Howdy Holmes discussing how to diagnose and resolve shifting complaints ...
I got the registration papers and insurance for the Marquis so now I just need to get the tags. I put in 1qt. Marvel Mystery Oil to 4 Qts. 20W50 oil and a new filter to ...
that starter sounds pretty normal to me. My friend's 1993 F-150 sounds
exactly like that. But even with over half a million kilometres on it, it's
still reliable as ever. All your Grand Marquis's will definately make it to
a million miles with the maintanence you do on them... and the fact that
cars don't rust away very quickly down south lol [my friend isn't sure
exactly how many kilometres his truck has on it, when it gets to 400,000km,
it keeps resetting back to 300,000 for some reason]
@retrochad Yeah I will start with the fuel filter. I have a 90 F-150 with a
4.9 EFI and I had problems with the EGR. It had plenty of power but it
idled real rough and sometimes stalled while idling like at intersections
when I am stopped. I took the whole EGR off from my '88, the truck I am
getting ready to scrap in my video, and put it on there and the stalling
stopped but there's still a rough idle when the engine is warm especially
when the A/C is on. I am thinking oxygen sensors.
@retrochad It looks like sometime during MY 1990 was the changeover, so
some '90s may have them, certain lines in 91 had them and all Fords had
them '92 and up. Your truck is supposed to have the small starter, but it
and the old one interchange even though the wiring is slightly different.
Plus, the smaller version is about $40 more expensive. Side by side there's
no mistaking them. Older starter is huge and heavy, newer is much smaller
and lighter.
Hey Chad I have a 1992 Ford F-150 with a 4.9 6 cyl fuel injected and it
takes some extra cranking to get it started sometimes too and then driving
down the road the engine seems like it's cutting in and out but it will
accelerate just fine and idles good. If you find out why that car is hard
to start let me know because my truck could have the same problem. As soon
as I get a new camera I will make a video of that truck.
@wduane2807 I wonder if it may be the fuel filter...on my 92 Ford pickup it
sometimes hesitates while accelerating. There is also a potential problem
with the EGR valves on these engines which can make the fuel mixture too
lean and cause a similar problem...search google for ford 4.9 liter egr
restrictor plate. I did the test on mine and I don't think the EGR is the
problem but so will start with the fuel filter.
no no..there's nothing wrong with the starter or the engine. That's the
later gear-reduction starter that Ford began using halfway through 1991.
It's better starter in every respect compared to the old direct-drive
starter your other vehicles have. Lighter, smaller, faster, lol. It's
called a PMGR starter-Permanent Magnet Gear Reduction. If you are curious
take a look underneath at it one day.
if it takes a long time, and it sounds like its weak on compression, it
might be weak on compression which could be your starting issue as well.
might want to run a compression test to be sure, never know... its probably
fine though. those old fords lasted and lasted. if taken care of.... I have
a 98 taurus with 145k on it, tranny still hummin along awsome.
@WhoSaidTyler Thanks a lot for the info Tyler, that's good to know! However
on the 1992 Ford pickup with 300-inline 6, the starter still sounds more
like the old Ford starters. The pickup now has a replacement starter on it
but even the original still had the "old" sound. My old 1991 Grand Marquis
must have had the old-type starter too.
@panthermike if you read the directions on the bottle..it says to use only
so much in your engine.. not the whole bottle..like i did once..haa..4cyl
nova/toyota corrolla.. it was way to thick..couldnt start the car in the
winter..hardley !. its good stuff if its used correctly. i use the
synthetic now.. i like it.
yea put some lucas in it iv used it on a eagle talon that had a rod
knocking we put the lucas in there and it made the knock go away and the
engine lasted another 6 months before it threw the rod and we ran the crap
out if it after that and it still lasted it will make that noise go away tho
That starter sounds exactlylike mine on my 1990 Crown Victoria. I don't
think it's a problem either due to the fact that I bought it off a 91 year
old lady who only put 53k miles on it, so I don't think its anything to
worry about
I also just bought one these, I have no overdrive over 45 miles per hour
(it wont shift into 3rd in OD), you might want to shift into regular drive
if you are having problems shifting- it might be the overdrive
@bimjales That's a very good idea...pretty much everything I have is
covered in the dust which gets kicked up by the wind here. I actually don't
have a pressure washer but will try to get one.
@simplicityford Thanks for the information...I wonder if maybe your Crown
Vic had a new replacement starter that was the new type...on my 1990 Grand
Marquis it still has the "old" sound to it.
Starter is Normal, My 1991 MGM sounded the same way. I would suggest Mobil
1 with Lucas Synthetic Oil Stabilizer. Also Clean your Throttle Body. Check
out my Video Response.
retrochad, I don't know about that Lucas "Synthetic Stabilizer", but don't
use the regular Lucas stuff! It's just snake oil and it's thicker than 140
weight gear oil.
Hey Retrochad, about the starter sound. I have a 1991 Mercury Grand Marquis
Colony Park, and the starter sounds exactly like yours. Thats how they
sound.
Dont Mention Toilets! on a cool video it ruins the buzz this video gives...
its great burnout for a stock 5.0 and then....teh toilet has to be
mentioned?...find a shitter and shoot it in your backyard to sow you love
for toilets..lol or run it down with the epic duke
lol and fagget probe man hates 5.0's well his broken anal probe wont ever
do what this 5.0 does. NICE MAN. ill have to do a response to this when i
can..hahah
