Well it's in spec for the running test, but it's not building pressure
quickly enough. With the gauge connected, the pressure should pop up to
spec as soon as the key is turned to ON and the pump does it's priming
thing(without starting the engine). I would change the filter first(inside
frame rail under the right rear door). The thing with the pump not running
occasionally is nearly always because it's getting worn out, so this all
might be leading down the same path.
For a test you can always use a jumper wire to bypass the relay. That also
makes it easy to have the pump run for other testing with the engine off.
As I said on your other video don't overlook the fuel pressure regulator.
It will be a device on the fuel rail with a vacuum line going to it. That
pressure does seem low, though I'm not an expert with Fords. VW electronic
fuel injection runs about 45 psi. (The old mechanical CIS system was much
higher, about 85 psi)
Id change the fuel filter. The pressure came up slow, it should come right
up as soon as they key is on. If you change the filter and it still comes
up slowly, id consider a weak pump, or if the pump has a filter screen it
could be clogged or getting clogged.
I had the same problem with my relay. I gust gave it a good tap to get me
home. Judging by how slowly your fuel pressure went up, you might want to
replace the fuel filter though. You said you didn't hear the fuel pump, so
it probably electrical.
@clubcar98, the normal fuel pump pressure is between 35 to 45 psi, anything
less than 33 is considered weak and needs new fuel pump, and on top of
that, change fuel filter is also an idea when replacing fuel pump too :)
Change the fuel filter and test it again. I've gooten alot of bad parts of
the shelf. Autozone seems to be the worst about it, exchange that relay for
another and it should be fine.
@GatheringSticks Well store brand relays and switches are usually junk.
Chad would be better served going to a junkyard and getting a used
Motorcraft relay.
i appoldges i can t help you.i would go to the lincoln dealer i am
