+ozzymandistwenty14 This movie essentially junked the foundation of the original series. Spock, an essentially celibate and solitary figure, contrasted dramatically with Kirk who was anything but those things. That was jettisoned. Please recall that the original Spock was troubled by his half-human roots. Now he is fully involved with a human girlfriend knowing that any children they may have will only be 25% Vulcan. A fascinating aspect of the orginal series was the unrequited love that Nurse Chapel clearly held for Spock and how Spock tried to deal with it. That is also gone. Or the tensions existing between a robust and assertive Federation and the more pacifistic leanings of the influential planet Vulcan. That is gone. We saw that the aspirations of the Vulcans and many Romulans was for reunification. That is no longer possible. Time and time again we saw in the original series how the early experiences of Kirk as he rose through the ranks influenced his decisions as Captain. The best example is the guilt that Kirk felt over the death of a captain under whom he once served. Now, of course, that does not exist. Instead  it seems that fresh out of the academy, Kirk has become the Captain of the flag vessel of the Federation. When has that ever happened in real life? Not in any army or navy that I am aware of. The entire premise of the Enterprise series was that hostile forces from the future were threatening our galaxy and that Archer with the cooperation of the temporal control would put things right. That concept, too, has been completely tossed out the window. This reboot also has a rather bizarre notion that Romulans who survived the destruction of their planet and were flung into the past were more interested in bringing death and destruction to Vulcan and Earth than in reporting to Romulan authorities that their planet faced doom and should take steps to evacuate their planet. Killing every human and Vulcan would not do a thing to prevent the destruction of the Romulan planet.

my brother and I put a lot of work into it...took us 3 weeks. We made it with a stop-motion using a simple canon camera, as well as a special-ordered lego version of the star trek voyager crew. I wrote the script an did the voice of tooth-pix, my brother did the rest.

holy crap! I've only just now realised he played Nero!:O and I knew he was in the movie but I guess I didn't pay enough attention, 'cause after i saw it I was like "hey, isn't Bana supposed to be in this movie?" god, I feel so stupid now:/

Nero was such a great villain. and even he's even more badass after you are familiar with his backstory form comics. btw. Bana did a great job with his voice in the movie. in this interview he does not sound like Nero at all!

Tell me about it. It's a impressive change between Eric and Nero. I couldn't believe it either when I saw what he really looked like. It's like, "Omg, I can't believe that's the same guy. Are they sure that's the same guy?"

When I first saw the movie and first saw him ( Bana) I was like " where do I know this guy from?" the more I watched The more I was like "where do I know this guy from!?" So I finally had to come look it up.

Lol I had the same, the first part of the movie... Then after a while I was like "Wait a friggin second.... is that Eric Bana?... IS THAT THE HULK????" He went green(ish) again :D Eric Bana is awesome!

at the part where Spock takes the ship and Nero finds out and stops choking KIrk and screams Spoooock! Spoooock! did you hear Khaaaan! Khaaaan! in the back of your mind like i did?

I think it's impossible for Bana to be typecast, because he acts the character, not himself in the character's shoes. I didn't even recognize him as Nero until the credits!

it was that tattoo design all over his head and his dark eyes that drew me in and his deep voice and me melting so no you are not the only one

Eric Bana and Donald Trump would get along I think. After all, they both like to FIRE EVERYTHING!!!

Lucky Eric is Australian, otherwise who could understand these questions / accent at such speed...

he did a great job, the only trek villain to actually do anything worthwhile other than Khan.

holy shit! i did not know he played Nero. he really disappeared into character...um...wow!

He's very good at acting. His voice is so different and his performance was flawless.
