Is the tripod the GlobeTrotter version?

This is a great concept and story, but I can't help wondering that if avatars from the present went twenty years into the future, wouldn't the future avatars look far more photorealistic? Probably have a merger of human consciousness and full tactile stimuli at least that is where Whole Brain Emulators are trying to take us now anyway, but all in all an excellent story, I really enjoyed it

I time traveled to 6:30 btw.. I like Jim and I very much enjoy his presentations, but he sometimes comes across as a bit too much of an Einstein fanboy. Regarding the atom.. Surely Gibbs and Boltzmann deserve a little credit. Between these two men, they had explained by the 1890s everything in Einstein's 1905 paper regarding Brownian motion.

I don't feel that the Mona Lisa Paradox is much of a paradox. It's one that resolves itself. For the original painting to be sent back, he must have painted it at one point in time. He sends it back to his younger self, who repaints it in the future and sends that one back, keeping the one he received when he was younger. Yes, this means that the painting exists twice at one point in time, but is there some sort of law of physics that doesn't allow this?

What empirical evidence did Einstein have to prove space-time is curved? - I believe Arthur Eddington observed the movement in a stars position during an eclipse in the 1910's that helped to start to confirm this theory (after he had published it) - but Einstein didn't see this himself and think - ah! I notice that star moved, so Spacetime is curved! When dealing with theoretical physics, especially in area's such as quantum mechanics, surely the theories are best guesses that can be aided by empirical evidence but very often that is not available. Also You state categorically that the evidence for a black hole has been proven - who is to say that it isn't a giant Turtle? - where is the empirical evidence for a black hole, apart from the movement and shift of stars in certain regions of the sky, that is obviously being caused by a Giant Turtle. Its turtles all the way down.
