good video...all i have to say that who ever designed the engine with the option for oil cooler i would stick the bracket up his xxx and never let him design anything for bmw again.....just bought 02 745i and same problem...so i got everything out except i have little space to loose the 4 torx bolts on motor mount even after raising the engine up to its limit...if i can ask you how did you loose those 4 bolts???i don't want to strip them off...did you use special ratchet??? thanks

For all you complainers out there... this job is pretty simple. if you have no PASSION for BMW and your complaing about a simple OIL LEAK.. then your not built to own a bmw-- ger rid of it n buy your self a Ford FOCUS n62 engines are badass - i owne 2 545i and i would drive no other vehicle. if your complaining about an oil leak.. tsk tsk you definatly cant handle a simple wrench job

I owned a trouble free e36 M3. Have thought about a newer BMW with a V8... who the FUCK was the idiot that decided these engines need a damned oil-cooled alternator! I will never buy one of these. Last good design was E39 M62 or S62 engines.

You have to take out alternator fan power steering pump and engine mount bracket and all the cooling hoses out of the way. and lift up motor with something underneath to get the engine mount bracket out.

I have the alternator out, but can't seem to get the bolts out of the bracket …. what's the trick? I have the proper 9mm External Torx sockets, but after a whole afternoon of work, only have 1 out!

I have the same problem, I'm planing to do the job my self, what parts do I have to take apart in order the get the bracket out.

No only jacks and jack stands depends you just need remove motor mount and support
