Lucky win for the Chinese fighter, the Iranian injured himself from
slipping. I have to say that this tournament has a pretty odd ruleset: no
clinch but elbows allowed? Not exactly a Muay Thai tournament, more like a
modified kickboxing tournament
China Open 2015 : Nadal Best Points TOP 20 HD - Beijing Open
My TOP 20 Best Points of Rafael Nadal in the Beijing China Open 2015 against Di Wu, Vasek Pospisil, Jack Sock, Fabio Fognini and Novak Djokovic. Mon TOP ...
Now they started to delete all the videos. Only your videos are still
available. Today I hoped for a match similar to Shanghai 2013, but Wawrinka
was really awful.
+Nadal Power But on the other hand Nadal would maybe warm up a bit in the first game and not drop his serve at all. Actually it's not that important against an opponent like Karlovic. It's more about the likes of Djokovic.
+hopy51I think he will not always choose to serve first but will decide depending on the opponent (big servers) and his feelings. But personally I think that it's always better to serve first because when Rafa (or any other top player) has a good serve %, he is hard to break. And a break at 5-4 means loss of the set, while a break at 4-4 requires 1 more service game to win the set. If Karlovic had served first in the 1st set, he would've probably won it assuming the scenario was the same.
+Nadal Power By the way, I'm not sure his new tactic of starting from serve is smart. I always thought the first game of the match is a warm-up game, you never know how fast you will start. There were many matches where Nadal lost the opening game and then started playing. But on serve it's more risk, because if you start slowly and lose your serve it can cost you the set.
+hopy51Yes, but we have to remember where he's coming from. Before this match, he was barely able to beat a Top10 player. He lost to Wawrinka in Rome after an awful tie-breaker that he managed to lose after leading 6-2 then he collapsed in the 2nd set. Now he looks better physically and mentally. I like the mental strength he showed against Karlovic with that legendary return of serve (not sure many players did him 3 consecutive return winners on 1st serves) and the way he played the tie-breaks against him and Raonic :)For sure, we don't know what tomorrow is made of, but he's taking the good direction to become again the player we knew :)
+Nadal Power I guess he became better in shorter rallies, but worse in longer rallies. Today it was 8-4 to Wawrinka in rallies longer than 9 shots. Also I still don't know about his physical form. We will get a better picture when he plays a best of five format. But even in bad form he should still beat at least half of today's awful top-10. Wawrinka had a great RG, but most of the time he plays bad. Berdych, Cilic, Nishikori, Raonic, Ferrer are all top-10 players only thanks to winning 500 tournaments. When they meet Djokovic they are all getting destroyed badly. So if Nadal just improves a bit it should be already enough to be at least number 3 in the world.
Stan played very well for the few first games of the match though but Rafa was above. Our player has played 3 successive very good matches against good players. It wasn't the case at the beginning of the season where he couldn't keep his consistency or was only winning easily against weak players. I think the Rafa we know is coming back :)Yes, the ATP is ruthless. As I always said, they are shooting themselves in the foot because the fans promote their sport. I understand when they delete full matches. But 10min highlights, seriously ? :-/Yes not sure why this TOP20 hasn't been blocked yet but it seems that the ATP is only very active deleting the videos DURING the tournament. When it's over they don't really care (or check from time to time). I will post my Shanghai TOP20 two days after the final.
I can't wait to see him against Karlovic. I actually like Doctor Ivo, he is
usually very fun to watch. But Raonic in my opinion is very annoying. If
Nadal makes it past Karlovic I really hope he will not lose to Raonic
again. That loss in IW totally shocked me, I must say. Not the fact that he
lost, but the way how he lost. But before everything I want someone to
finally beat Djokovic before the final. Too tired of him winning
everything.
+hopy51 Unlike what people think, Rafa is actually very good against the big servers (4-0 vs Karlovic, 6-0 vs Isner, 5-1 vs Raonic). His only loss against the Canadian was unfortunate, he should have won. So i'm confident. But it's true that Karlovic is very special and Rafa was once very close to losing in the Queens, 7-6, 6-7, 7-6. BTW why do you call him Dr Ivo ? ;-)
+Darth Sidious I agree. Bad luck too. He had great opportunities to break back at 2-3, 40-15, but made 2 unforced errors, and in no time, the score was 2-5.
