SNOW ACCIDENTS SEATTLE
FOOTAGE FROM JEREMY TOWNSEND ON THE FRANKLIN / BOSTON INTERSECTION IN THE EASTLAKE NEIGHBORHOOD OF SEATTLE.
+Lydia O'Keefeyes but when published the video was last month and since then the snow's been piling up and the freeze ups wont be helping, and appears its going to get even colder with more storms brewing ever few days.
+Assassin HawkTrue, but most of the people shown in the video were first responders or snow plowers. When my car gets buried, I go nowhere, but there are always going to be people who get sick or injured. I don't think the people who help them are people on crack
+Lydia O'KeefeThey soon wont get the choice of going out as more storms are on the way from the south to the NE.When daylight isnt coming through the windows then its time for real worry to set in..The biggest worry would be a sudden thaw that would wash some homes away seeing as so many appear to be built from wood.
Most people would rather stay home... so why do you think most people will risk it? Some people are a one pay check away from getting financially behind for months
yeah but most bitches think a snow storm is a chance for them to go out and drive around challenging it and its usually when their work is closed because of the snow. I've seen more cars driving down the road when it snows than on a normal day. Really pathetic.
Don't forget the many people who have jobs that must be attended no matter what the weather. First responder personnel, health care personnel, whether hospitals or 24 hour care disability or elderly agencies. Folks like us only wish we could ride out these storms at home. No fun having to dig out and get on the road with white knuckles.
Hi East Boston Buzz, I work at The Weather Network in Ontario, Canada.
We're putting together a show on the crazy winter of 2014-15 and I want to
talk about what you guys went through down in New England, too. Would you
give permission for us to use a bit of this snow plow video on TV?
Please let me know!
Thanks,

Hi East Boston Buzz! Thank you so much for responding to my inquiry about your Boston Snow video(s)! A short snippet of the video(s) may be included in a Storm Hunters show called "Relentless Winter." Your permission would allow possible airing of the show internationally, on TV or other media (like our website), and in perpetuity (meaning without restrictions on time.)You will be credited for providing the footage - would you like us to use your name or just "EastBostonBuzz"?Thanks again for contributing your video to the show! It's not snow removal at all, more like snow pushing, they need to do what
they do in Canada, a blower followed by dump trucks that collect the snow
and take it somewhere and dump it or one those snow melting machines, scoop
up the snow and dump it in.
+Peter Matuszak Those streets are too small to do that. Besides where do you put the cars? I lived in Boston and plowed the streets there. Easier said than done.
+Peter Matuszak A snow blower would have taken a lot longer. The loaders in the video weren't prepped well. The first guy had his bucket too low, the second guy had his blade angled too much. A smaller loader with the correct length plow would have been much better.
You're absolutely right. For the quantity of snow Boston got this year, simply pushing it around wasn't all that helpful. Actual snow removal like you described (snow blower / dump truck) is what was needed.
Snow Day at Boston Logan International Airport 1/21/2012
Various scenes filmed throughout the day at Logan. Takeoffs, landings, taxiing, lots of blowing snow, fog, and some impressive snow removal vehicles.
No worries :) I posted a vid of my own on a very basic camera ... and shot
it more for the emotion of it, as the quality is not the point. So I
appreciate why people add music now! :) I did so myself ... to emphasize
the experience versus the technical capabilities of my own video. And I can
appreciate the limitation of insufficient engine sound too ... I've been
out filming at YVR (Vancouver), and engine sound is often quieter than
background. Keep on making your awesome films! Cheers. :)
thanks for your comment and glad you enjoyed the vid. In principle, there
is live audio, but it isn't very good, which is why I added a soundtrack.
From that vantage point, you need a long lens, and the planes don't come
close enough or generate any signficant thrust in our direction to make a
good recording. In a couple cases I left some plane noises in, but usually
the only noise I recorded was wind, people talking, or of passing cars.
Great video! You don't see to many including the equipment that maintains
the surface in these conditions. The equipment use at BOS is called the
Vammas PSB 5500, 30ft plow and 22ft broom travelling down the runway at 30
to 40 mph. Not many people actually see this operation take place because
the weather usually hides them.
Do you have a non-music version? I just find music such a personal "color"
or "lens" on subjects that not everyone will resonate with. Nothing
personal, just prefer the sound of the airport environs, that's all! Great
video though! Thanks
I'd say you should make an unlisted version without music of this with a
link from this video for the people who enjoy the quiet peace of snow with
quiet backdrop noise. I wouldn't mind the wind, passing cars and etc.
NE is getting pounded this year. Good for the water table I suppose.
We're looking at another 8" this weekend and temps -1º. Run out of room
to put it, but it looks nice.
Yea man. I'm a few hours west of him in ny state and I always see our storms goin east and hitting them worse! Not only the snow, but it's been in the single digits or below zero for almost a month! We get a few breaks here and there, and the days usually go to 20 or 30. We need a good 7-8 days of over 32 temps !!
I have a smaller tent shed, made a tool to allow me to clear the snow off
from inside. Took an 18" paint roller, Shoved a chunk of pvc into it Added
a couple bearings and a crossbar, attached a handle and it allows me to go
inside and start at the bottom, push up/out and the snow slides off. Just
sort of bounce the tent as you work your way up. If you still have it this
spring you can also use a long roller to apply a coat of 303 to the
material. That stuff helps a lot. and it makes the snow slide better!
Saw a mirror sticking out of one pile! That blower looks familiar, Local
town has one like it. NOISY in the cab. You need to hunt up a Trackless or
a Holder with a 4' blower on it.
