Since there is already a "Fun In The Morning" promo for their game show lineup, here's NBC's soap opera promo as "Love In The Afternoon" from 1975 (years ...
If you actually read my original reply comment, I never said Y&R's original
cast was good -- I said they were actually pretty green (inexperienced),
but had presence. The reason "L&F" didn't catch on was because it was an
unoriginal, poorly written, and badly cast show. It was also programmed
against the well-established "SFT" and the expertly written "RH." If you
take time to actually read context and think about what you write, rather
than being reactionary, you actually might sound literate.
NBC's daytime lineup from the late 60's through to the late 70's was (with
the excpetion of "Somerset") was very strong - ratings wise. "Days Of
Lives", "The Doctors" & "Another World" formed a 90 minute powerhouse block
that finally gave CBS's daytime soaps a run for it's money. "AW" & "DOOL"
would even expand from 30mins to a full hour during this time. NBC were
riding high at this point and would unfortunately never achieve this level
of success with it's daytime serials again.....
Lemay's writing for "L&F" was horrid! He had his moments on "AW" -- Lord
knows, I was tired of him shoving Vicky Wyndham's so-called "reformed"
Rachel down our throats -- but his scenes were languid and his characters
bland and uninspired. This was supposed to be NBC's answer to "Y&R" --
another show that cast some pretty green actors, but at least they had
presence. His Tessa, Bentley, Rhett, Megan, etc. creations were
one-dimensional, cookie-cutter soap characters.
@BestFilmExpert "Somerset" was actually replaced by "Lovers & Friends,"
which was reworked into "For Richer, For Poorer" after a hiatus. "AW"
expanded to 90 minutes after the cancellation of "For Richer, For Poorer."
"Somerset" had its moments -- the show had excellent actors (certainly
better than L&F and FRFP), it's just the show's direction would change with
each new writing/production regime.
The series maintained the same core theme from 1970 to well into 1973 -
that of corporate intruigues. It was not until Roy Winsor came on as head
writer in the spring of 1973 that it began to shift. L&F had some very fine
acting and writing - check the cast list. Some of the younger ones were
inexperienced, but the adult actors were some of the finest available from
stage and tv.
Somerset (and later, Texas) was a mistake. DAYS, AW and The Doctors was the
hot topic then. Somerset totally ruined the block, and after Somerset, AW
expanded to 90 minutes. It was Texas that bumped AW back to 60 minutes, and
pushing The Doctors to a morning timeslot. That was a horrible ruin in the
ratings. Texas was a mistake.
I assume you spend most of your time watching American TV, which would
explain why you hold the opinion you present. The reason L&F did not catch
on is because American viewers were used to garbage. Y&R was SUCH garbage
and if you think those actors were good...well, enough said. BARF.
I didn't know that NBC used the slogan "Love In The Afternoon" to promote
its soap operas! I do remember when ABC used that slogan to promote its
soap operas!
Those horrible humans need to be put under a jail somewhere. I can think
of no punishment great enough for them. It does not matter who initiated
that and the sentence they were given is a joke. If let out they both need
to be sterilized to prevent them from having more children and they need
the same sort of monitoring that child predators are followed by. Yes, I
am furious.
+Linda Fields As far as officer Tate he is a sterling example of what law enforcement officers should be. In Kentucky you are guilty of breaking the law if you know of any child abuse and do not report it to officials. This is a good law.
english is not my first language..its my second or third ..i'm not
sure..but when oprah speaks ,i fully understand what she's saying...so
clear..the other one is naomi campbell...she also speaks clearly, just like
oprah..i understand her word by word...but when i watch movies especially
american movie it's so hard to understand them if i don't have the
subtitle..why ?haha..
To clarify for people, and they skim over this in the piece above, this
only occurred for 6 months of the first 6 years of his life, he mentions
that his dad used to spend time with him and they had some semblance of a
normal father-son relationship and that only after Carmen (his stepmom)
arrived did the abuse begin. I am not belittling the crime, the parents
deserve life sentences, but I see people commenting about how this was done
to him for 6 years and it's simply not the case.
They also mentioned in the video that the parents were given the "maximum sentence" for the crime they were convicted of committing. Of course they got of early so that hardly matters.
+DailySportsGR and your the one who started when you said stuff for me saying flipping... So hence therefore you don't like how I talk like I said kindly FUCK OFF ☺️
