"As Thanksgiving approaches and leaves and temperatures start to fall across the country, heat waves are probably the last thing on anyone's mind. But ever ...
If the heatwave kills more elderly people then I don't give a fuck because
less competition for jobs and less old people sucking up my tax dollars for
shit I can't get. The older generations sold the Millennials out to the
point that many of us are on the work until we die retirement plan. I'm
never going to be able to retire but my tax dollars are going to old people
in Florida that get to kick back while I bust my ass to pay for shit that I
will never be able to do.
+CCG in humid places, shade does nothing. i live in an extremely humid area and even with an AC, we still have trouble. even on a "cool" day of 90 degrees, if the humidity reaches over 70%, it takes more than a bit of water and staying indoors to help. it's not just heat from the sun.
+SubwayRatt People that die in heat waves already have heath complications of some sort. That's why they die and not the people around them. Plus smoking, drinking and being fat also does not help.
+Rhyannon Ashford i've always heard about those heatwaves and asked myself how dafuq do you die from hot weather in france of all countries (which happened in the last 10 years) the answer's gotta be because these people dont have any air conditioning, in which case you're probably better off being dead anyway if you're that poor.
+PlasteredDragon. Thanks for the reference. I have already seen that. I only have to look outside to know that global warming is happening at an alarming pace. At one point wondrous and at the same time alarming. Many conservatives make it a general rule to visit Amazon and liberal blogs and places like TYT and like or dislike and post contrary comments for at least 30 mins each day. Running up to the Nov 2012 General election the posts damming Obama outnumbered positive posts at least 10 to 1. Yet come election time he wins in a landslide. Figure that. I like to utube climate change videos and notice that most of the posts are from science skeptics. Ignorance will probably have its day, but the jury is out. Lets hope we can mitigate the damage as much as we can.
Except with more heat comes more disease vectors like insects that will experience a much more increased population that cold weather would have limited.
"But less hard winters save more people."First, that is NOT how global warming works. Winters in some areas are actually significantly harsher. Second, where the hell did you get your data to make such a statement? A curious quick google search leads to this paper; //journals.ametsoc.org/doi/pdf/10.1175/BAMS-86-7-937Which quotes this; " Several studies show that heat-related deaths outnumber cold-related deaths, while other studies conclude the exact opposite."Considering you repeat, "way more people" one would assume you have concrete evidence opposed to this report. Lay it on us please.
The climate doesn't just heat up, it isn't that simple. The predictions I've heard were rather saying "climate change will lead to more cases of extreme weather conditions".
In Europe winters get warmer. Usually. Or warm winters get more common. And the number of people who die in winter are in an other dimension than this heat wave thing.
Blizzard rates are increasing too. The seasons are going to get more severe. This is why they changed the term from global warming to climate change. It isn't just heating, it is a general increase in climate severity.
