The rumor wasn't true, but a bill was approved to use 1 million dollars to study the Sunset Limited's route and if the bill passes everything it comes across down the line then the Sunset should be back probably next year or 2010. P.S. I can't quarantee that it will be back next year, but with gas prices rising there are limited options. This informatin can be found on the google groups known as Sunset Un-limited.

reminds me wen im in clifton forge,va waiting for amtraks cardinal while a csx frieght train gos by making lots of noise and all you can here is the horn of the southbound cardinal in the distance then the train pulls up the while im leaving the horn blows maby once or twice and the it leaves but sometimes the sleeper car be in the very back wen its sappose to be in the front

yea when we went to LA we had to go up to DC then to chicago then to LA it was a awsome trip i wish they would restart the sunset limited

Great Catches! the Amtrak Train you caught was actually Train 98 and the SunRail Train you caught going SB then NB was Train P317.

+jtunnel +sthsdltd The reason there was two engines, was because Engine 107 was being tested/"burnt in" Passenger rail engines are required to be tested before they can run by them selves. So that was why there was two engines. The reason for two cars, that is the normal they use. One or two evening rush hour trains has three cars, but all the others have two. Not many people were riding just because it was the mid-day stop. This train is mainly a commuter rail so most of its riders are morning and afternoon.
