One essential point that you missed here is that rioters traveled away from their homes to riot. You're indicating that the unemployment rate in the areas where the riots took place tell us something about the causes for the riots. I'm not saying that you're wrong by arguing that unemployment was an important factor, but this map doesn't substantiate that point, at least not as is - the rioters could still live in areas that were rioted; they just didn't riot their own area themselves.

I heard that yesterday a woman gave John Humphries a run for his money(unintended pun) on the R4's Today program saying that the Euro was a Ponzi Scheme. He asked why she hadn't said this sooner in radio interviews and her reply was that she had tried for ages but they wouldn't let her on the program. Is anyone able to corroborate this? I went Wales on my shiny red motorbike, I had occaision to stop, go behind a hedge and have a PEEEE! No sheep were harmed in the formation of this comment.

@gibbo675 This may be the programme you mean. I tried to sift through it to find the bit to which you referred, but i couldn't be bothered having to listen to all the twaddle in between so i gave up. I think it's 3 hrs long. (That's way too much bbc for anyone in one day) bbc. co. uk/ programmes/ b015p85t "..No sheep were harmed in the formation of this comment..." Glad to hear it. People in Wales can be very protective when it comes to their sheep :)

who is going to try and bail Greece out next , Romania , Bulgaria . non of these Countries have a pot to piss in , Slovakia is very poor " very skinny women " Greek women not so skinny, it does not add up , this i know because i have visited skinny countries and fat countries , fat must bail out thin , but then my bank manager is a fat bastard , and i had to bail him out , confused . com.

Well, what's the alternative, economically illiterate Labour? The years of quick successive 'boom and bust' within 5/10 year cycles are long gone. The accumulated wealth of our grandfathers has been depleted. For me, when you see stories such as £1.4million gov't investment going in to Airbus UK Filton with 200 jobs created, you know which direction we have to go. Bloated public sector non-jobs on ridiculous wages have sucked the country dry, it's back to reality I'm afraid. Get used to it.

The numbers are going down because they have made it almost impossible to claim.they don't count all the under 18 that left school last year and this year.they don't count the people on voluntary work placements, you volunteer or lose your benefits! They don't count the people on back to work schemes .for every job going there over 45 people applying for the job.there I are no jobs paying a liveable wage only part time in retail or food service sector!

There are lies, damn lies... and then there are the government's unemployment statistics. BBC News is just propaganda for the British Government. The BBC exists to promote government interests, regardless of which party is in power (although it prefers Labour than the Tories). Real journalists would investigate the truth behind these statistics, not just blindly accept them

Considering Germany's unemployment is currently 2.27 Million, I'd say that's far from a disaster coming off the back of a financial/economic melt down. Some people like you are never happy, I think you just love to be a little fulltime moaner, and always be negative.
