FIJI Intend to Demolish East 8th Street to Build New Frat House, Bloomington, IN 2013
News: Indiana University has offered several options for FIJI/ Phi Gamma Delta to build their new Fraternity house, but they have picked and decided to demolish ...
If the University owned all the demolished properties, they could simply
take them OFF the table and that would be that, NO demolition. This simply
shows how insensitive and ignorant FIGI is about preserving important
architecture. My suspicion is that some hugely rich people who committed to
giving LARGE amounts of money to the IU Foundation are the parents of some
of the FIGI students or are past FIGI members. IU ALWAYS responds to money
given to the Foundation, no exceptions. The President, McRobbie should have
intervened and said NO, but he is too busy with his own projects to notice
a tragedy happening on the core campus.
man i have sit on the porch of the second house and the coaches house too
all these old places i had friends lived in these old houses over in elm
heights and down Washington and Lincoln streets,, all up in these cool
places so much history and nice places with so much style .. not like the
newer homes they are really ugly and made so cheap will never be standing
in 100 years like the old ones are
This makes me sick and we are about to lose more of our history. FIJI does
not care what they leave behind when they leave this town. It means nothing
to them.
