+The Ultimate Variety Channel™ Initially that is true. But it did bite his foot as he was trying to surface. Maybe it lost the fish as he got loose and chased him thinking it was the fish or it thought he was trying to steal it back and attacked. Dunno. Doesn't matter much, it is a wild animal after all.
Love how the news calls everything an "attack". Oh my I tripped on a
crack, the sidewalk "ATTACKED" me! Looks like the seal was going for the
fish and accidently grabbed his hand. It's not like the sea lion was
literally attacking him...
Well I pee'd on my pillow as a child too but I didn't intensionally attack it. I wasn't trying to pee on my pillow just like the sea lion wasn't attacking the man but it happened on accident. When the Sea lion grabbed the yellowtail it probably thought the fish was still alive (in this case being the man trying to break free) so the sea lion swam for the bottom because its easier to kill the fish while its pinned to the bottom. If the Sea lion was actually attacking him a few munched on fingers would be the least of his trouble. Also, when the man was released, was there any report of the sea lion coming back to "attack" the man.... no. If the sea lion did come back I would agree that it was trying to attack him. An attack is an act of violence and aggression. Accidentally peeing on your favorite pillow is neither of those nor is mis-judging the refraction of the water for an animal that doesn't typically jump out of water for food.
