it depends on what the watts are on each device and how long you plan to use each device.  from there you can do a calculation to see how much you would need.  There are some good calculators on the net which you can go to figure these out.  just search for amp hour battery calculator.

So let's say we only have a tv that needs charging and our phone? What wud u recommend?

+barcasimple Inverters convert the power from your battery (which is DC power) into AC (which is the type of electricity your house hold appliances run off of) So if you have DC appliances or adapters you wouldn't need an inverter. However a lot of electronics and appliances don't have a dc power option so you would then need to use an inverter. The solar panels only recharge your batteries, so if you have other means to recharge your batteries you wouldn't need solar. As for money, I have no where near what you are suggesting... I have a modest amount of passive income coming in so that's what i'll be living from. if you don't have passive income you'll need to work while on the road or have a large savings or live from credit (which I don't recommend) As to how much you'll need, I don't really know, I guess I'll be able to answer that question after I've been living on the road for some time. A few great minds developed unix then developed a way to network in order to share information and ideas freely through that system. That was in the late 70s and early 80s our technology is built on that foundation but has not moved beyond it. All technology works on the foundations of Unix.

The ouya uses the technology i am talking about and turns it towards gaming. I am talking about building your own rig and having a full entertainment system without paying 200 dollars extra, you have to understand the difference between a microsoft and macintosh is hype. They use the same technology just advertise and program to a different audience. I am talking about saying fuk you to brands and using technology without brands. You wont be using an OS in my build just a boot loader and what your capable of making it do. All modern tech wether its macintosh, windows, sony, android, ect. It starts with loading Unix, the basis and foundation of our technological understanding

Ohh.. I think I might actually  have one of those, the one I have is called ouya.  I'm not a tech guy so I might be way off.  I can stream shows using xbmc on it.   I don't know if that's the same thing you're talking about or not... 

It is a computer just mini and less powerfull then a full rig. Which is why it uses less electric. Its what there using to build the next gen phones and android/iphone watches.

You can also with wifi use netflix, hulu, youtube, and web browse all your sites and forums like it was a pc

The rig im biuilding will cost 250 but thats because i need 4 terabytes for all my legally purchased digital movies and shows. A basic rig can run you 100 with all the luxery needed. Im a nerd and need to go the extra mile.

Its a mini itx pc. It has its limitations and wont run a gamers pc or video heavy rig but it will run circles on any phone or tablet in the market. It is usually designed to run drones but dedicated as a media server it shines.

that sounds like a sick set up.. Makes my idea look pretty mickey mouse... haha,  Oh and what is a "PI"?

At the same time through xbmc you can play any video or audio format as well through emulation play any of the classic consoles up to PS2. It is a full media center that will run on power limitations of our chosen lifestyle. Now my 2 to 4 watt estimate does not include a 12v monitor as i will be using it with a tablet pc and laptop.

I could ramble specs and how its done but most viewers wont understand. If you ask me how to do it step by step for everyone though i guess i could. I have 12 years as an IT and tech though. The video will record through the PI media and then relay video via bluetooth to any android device within limits. You wont get live if your more then a few blocks away from your van but i dont plan to be.

Wont be on my phone will be hooked directly to my pi which will use bluetooth.

+Shane Daley Nice... I looked at something like that but don't you need wifi in order for the camera system to send the video to your phone?

Im using 2 on each side of the van, 1 up front and 1 behind. Full surveillance from all angles.
