+kevin duong The jacket is windproof but whether you will need anything underneath depends on the temperature and how much you feel the cold as a person. The outer of the jacket is coated with a DWR (durable water repellent) coating and the the down is also hydrophobic so the jacket will still perform when wet. Best not to get it soaked though, if possible.
Hi Stephanie. It depends on the situation. This is jacket is designed for the active ski or alpine missions. It does a good job of retaining the core body warmth that you generate. It should handle UK winter temperatures with layers underneath. But again, this depends on how much the user feels the cold.
It's between this or the Moncler Clovis for me, any suggestions from anyone
who owns either ? Price isn't the concern, overall warmth/cold fighting
ability & aesthetics/looks are the biggest concern for me. Just asking
because although I like this particular jacket & it is much cheaper in
comparison to the Moncler while still being fairly high quality, but this
particular video made the jacket look disproportionate to the wearer vs the
Moncler (although much more expensive), provides great protection & is a
little more slim fitting (for a slim guy like myself). I'm looking for
something providing a fair amount of protection with the puffer style
polyamide shell, but a bit slim fitting. My only two choices so far are
this NorthFace or tye Moncler. Any suggestions are welcome.
+BJJ Fiend The Maya is good, but I would have to go with the Himalaya over it, only because of the matte finish - I think I will pull the trigger on the Norbert, but after seeing it in person and trying it on
+NapsterDawson Personally, if you're looking in terms of a fair bit of functionality, combined with fashion, looks, etc. I'd go with Moncler. Although if you're looking to not hurt the wallet as much, I'd go with this Jacket or another similar N.F. I actually went with the Moncler Maya in black, not picking it up untill August though, due to availability.
+BJJ Fiend Hello - I am actually stuck between the moncler Clovis and Norbert - what did you end up choosing and are you happy with your choice? I personally wear patagonia, but like to be fashion foward.
Hello. Firstly Jeff should have gone down a size and pockets being left open have made the jacket fit look strange. I have been wearing a size small in the quince hooded pro. I would recommend going in store to try one on for best fit. The quince is extremely light garment for the warmth it offers and the down dries relativity quick because it has been treated. I noticed the Quince Pro has a generous fit for the active cut. It is designed to be worn as mid-layer in a mountain environments so The North Face have created some space in the jacket. This gives the ability to move freely when your active. Also the hood has great elasticity to expand making it hood compatible for climbers. Hope this helps.
