Governments Flooding Facebook With User Data Requests
"Facebook fielded requests from 74 countries for data on at least 38000 users in the first half of 2013, the company said in its first report detailing the scale and ...
You should care. Then what happens when the govt decides that what you ARE
doing, that you're NOT concerned about disclosing now is a crime, because
they've just decides it is by changing the law? What happens when you lose
a potential job b/c a company has access to your health data and doesn't
want to pay your family's premium percentage? What happens when you say
something in an email that's perceived as "terrorism" and you get the Feds
at your door? Remember, you don't decide what's illegal
Proof that TYT does not read or follow - except in the most superficial way
and for the most expedient purpose - the Guardian & Greenwald, the
Washington Post, Der Spiegel, NYT, etc., which if it did it could not not
know that the NSA has constant, unlimited access to all of Facebook, all of
the other social network sites, all internet activity. If TYT ever pops its
head out of its ass long enough to learn about and watch Democracy Now, it
would be schooled so hard in so many ways. One can dream
John, either you're being poorly sarcastic, or you are an idiot. Other
countries are the ones who have to request data from Facebook, not US. NSA
is jacked straight into the AT&T fiber optic network nodes. They copy
everything flowing across those fiber optic lines onto a server storage
system so large it would blow your mind. The Utah NSA center will further
expand their capacity to seemingly unreal levels. They have the capacity to
copy every private citizen's entire hard drive on the planet.
America has a winner-take-all electoral system that is dominated by
corporate money and corrupt mass-media. Putting faith in third parties
assumes that the federal electoral process functions properly, which it
doesn't. If progressives bet on third parties to change things, it only
gives the establishment more time to entrench. If all those progressive
millions decided to strike, however, it would threaten to wreck the
economy, forcing the establishment to recognize and address their issues.
HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAAAAAAaaaaa ahhh. There should be a youtube series called
"when trolls try too hard and fail". I'm glad you're pathetic because it
makes it all the more funny when you try and take a moral high ground like
"how shit your life will have become" on a computer programmer who
dedicates a lot of his time to helping those in his community. A tip, as
you become older you masturbate less simply due to your testosterone levels
decreasing, thusly your sexual desires also decrease.
So Facebook is being the good guy by releasing the numbers. Give me a
break. They could easily ban personally identifiable information and have
been caught not deleting information why a user deletes their account.
Facebook is a drip in the bucket. You give personal info to banks and tax
agencies who then sell that info as well. Buy something from a store and
they want personal info. It is next to impossible to stop the leak of
personal info with a corporate owned government.
I think people are getting confused here. The government aren't paying
google/twitter/facebook etc for the data they're compensating the companies
for the time they spend answering these requests. When you're getting 38000
requests a year you'll need to put on some new staff to deal with it.
What's that nearly 100 requests per day? I mean yeah it's evil that the
Govt is doing what it's doing but the companies deserve some cash for the
work they're being forced to do.
My FB pages is completely open. I don't hide my beliefs or care if they
don't like what is important to me. My post always have my name on them in
some fashion. If you can't just write down and be honest with your opinions
maybe you know they are wrong or racist. I do not fear my government. I
know what they are all about. All take and now give the rest. To anyone
that thinks we have even one politician for the people. When you gonna take
me to see that bridge?
Essentially, doing one allows you to do the other. If people went on strike
en masse demanding electoral reform that eliminated the influence of
private money on elections and the implementation of instant run-off
elections (or some alternative) and their demands were met, then
third-party candidates could run and win in that new system. At the present
time, there is no incentive for either party to support a change to a
system which got them elected.
Facebook already seems pretty transparent if your profile is public, like
mine. So does that mean they are requesting the information from people who
keep their friends lists and such private? I wonder what prompts them to
request information about a certain person. If it has to do with something
criminal it's at least understandable, but if it has do with whose going to
a protest or something of that nature as the lady suggested, what bullshit.
TYT does it again.. Who is this dunce who thinks FB is actually standing
between you and the federal govt? Seriously man? You obviously have no clue
how the internet works, and how the "Special Room" at the AT&T switch in SF
works. Listen, they don't need to ask anyone for your info.. They can just
suck up all your data transmissions as a "man in the middle". Ugh, ugh,
people.. please research before you open your mouth.
